This was my second persona game (the first one being P5 Royal) and here's what I have to say:

A lot of this review will be drawing comparisons between P5 and this one because I found them quite similar and I've already said how amazing Persona is overall in my P5R review.

First off, this game has AMAZING humor, especially in comparison to P5 and P3 where the game and worldbuilding can get quite grim, this game really doesn't take itself seriously. The characters joke quite often (and these jokes land really well. I found myself constantly laughing at the hilarious writing of this game) but the jokes thankfully never break the feeling of seriousness you're supposed to feel, because obviously the situation the cast is in is dangerous and shouldn't be taken lightly.

The humor is really what kept me through this game, but that doesn't mean it's not great in other ways:

I found myself enjoying the gameplay more than I thought, especially in the later dungeons of the game... however the bosses seem to be very similar in how you defeat them, whereas in P5 they all had some kind of gimmick that required you to have specific strategies in order to have a chance of beating them. In this game you can kind of just brute-force the fights with pure damage and debuffs (ESPECIALLY in the later parts of the game). This isn't really an issue for me because the turn-based fighting was never the main focus of Persona for me, but it's just something I found interesting and worth pointing out. Fighting normal shadows is pretty much the same as P5 with the only real difference being no Baton Passing and having less elements (this game only has phys, ice, elec, fire, wind, light and dark).
But as I said the gameplay itself was very fun. While I did miss the negotiations you can have in P5, the Shuffle Time in P4 is more than fine for me and felt pretty satysfying when getting continuous Sweeps, which kinda gave an incentive to grind for levels a bit more. (in P5 I usually only went after just getting personas and didn't really feel like grinding fights in Mementos and the palaces)

Moving on I guess I'll talk about the story now:

I won't sugarcoat it, I like the P5 story more. While I think investigations/murder cases are great, and I definitely loved the story here too, P5 just did its own premise better. I also think the culprit was really easy to identify. I suspected them pretty much the moment they appeared on the screen (well, not really, but you get my point).
I can't say anything more about the story because most of it is solving mysteries, so obviously revealing them would be rude to people reading this who haven't played the game yet, but it's great. Definitely had me hooked for most of it and was the second leading factor of why I like this game (right after the humor which I've already talked about).

About the characters...

I LOVE the party members in this game, they're all so unique from each other while all being equally funny and having amazing chemistry with each other. The Social Links were okay I guess, but compared to P5 I'd say this game has a way better party cast while having weaker side characters and the non-important Social Links. As for romances this game does them way better. I've checked all the outcomes on the internet (I personally went with Naoto cus I love detective characters in all media) and most of them are great. Compared to P5 where I really only liked two or three romance options this game really had me struggling on who I wanted because all the options were so great.

The soundtrack now:

Loved it, not much to say about it. While it's my least favourite from the 3 newest games (P5 and P3 songs are equal for me, I love both just as much, and love the P4 soundtrack just a little bit less...) it still holds up really well and it's still nice to listen to, especially some of the battle songs.

So now... should you buy the game?

Yeah, of course, genius. I've been glazing it for the past couple minutes of you reading this.
The game is definitely worth the full price, however I got it on sale, so I don't know if I can really speak my mind about this, but as I am right now, I would definitely pay the full game's price to be able to play it.

If you liked any of the other Persona games and just haven't came around to this one, you will definitely love it just as much if not more.
If you've never had any interaction with Persona games, I believe this game is the best to start with because it has the least complicated gameplay and least impressive graphics, which lets you get into the series and NOT have your expectations blown out of the water like I did. (damn it why did I start with P5...)

If this game keeps heading the direction it's in right now, it will 100% take the spot as my favourite piece of media oat.

Absolutely buy this. It's more than worth full price and the experience you get from this is nothing short of unforgetable.

It's pretty fun ig

This was my first Persona game and here is what I have to say:

This game is hands down, THE best game I have ever played in my life. The amount of enjoyment I got from this is just not possible to explain with words. Everyone NEEDS to play this game, it's straight up life-changing.

Gameplay: Addicting

Story: Amazing.

Characters: Very memorable and likeable.

Soundtrack: Going on in my head 24/7, best music I've heard, ever.

I could go and meatride this game more but whatever I say, it's not going to be enough.

Whoever you are, play Persona 5. It's amazing.

I forgot about this game for long enough. It's time for me to praise it like it's a new religion.

This is hands down one of the best AC games ever, people will still meme it for it's terrible launch, but try it and say again that It's buggy. Everything is fixed, so I'm leaving the "bugs" zone cus there is nothing to talk about.

The story:

People hate it because it's "nothing new", but I think that it's a good thing, because all the other games had stories that really were unique and in-depth, so why not make one that's simple and fits the setting? A love story in France, come on....

The combat:

Extremely simple, nothing to say it's great, but nothing to say it's bad, it's just GOOD, nothing to it. Parry, slash, shoot someone maybe, parry, slash, repeat......

The setting:

I'm no France lover or anything but the setting is just awesome, and the rooftops really feel like this is truly where the design of the game peaked, I love it.

The parkour:

What do I even say? This isn't a game with parkour, THIS IS PARKOUR WITH A GAME. Literally currently the best parkour animations and overall feeling in ANY game EVER. Every jump feels real, every landing feels painful and the indoors are just amazing to go inside of. Oh yeah, indoors, forgot to mention. In this game, you can go inside of ABOUT HALF THE HOUSES YOU SEE. And not like in AC3, where you had an animation when jumping in, no no no. Here you can actually even HIDE inside of them, your character stays inside as long as you want them to stay inside, it is just AWESOME

Overall I think that's all a AC game should be reviewed on, and this one hits the 10/10 on every single thing, except the story, which is a strong 7/10 and the combat, which is also a 7/10 (6/10 if you really wanna be harsh on its simplicity)

Buy this game now, if you've played other AC games before this game will absolutely destroy them for you, and take its place as the best in your heart. If this is your first AC game, this, right here, is peak AC, enjoy and give the other games a go. I promise they are good aswell! Just not as amazing as this one

Absolute Masterpiece <3 but the campaign is reaaally short, i beat it on normal/Amazing in under 7 hours with no deaths

Definitely recommend but I'd also recommend starting the game on the hardest difficulty as the game itself provides almost zero challenge on normal diffs.

The game is good, i had a lot of fun with but the price is WAY to high for such a short game, im not saying the game doesn't deserve that price but i think it's way to short even if it's very fun, buy it but only on sale.

8/10, would be 10/10 if the game wasn't so short for a high price

Overall a great game, just i don't think the cost of a lifetime depression was worth it. Send help please :)
