I used to love this game, really I did. Matter of fact, I still do. I can no longer play it, however. You see, since T2I took over, they've ♥♥♥♥♥♥ over the EULA so that now they are legally able to spy on you (where are all those consumer protection laws?). I refuse to have software with that kind of licensing even installed on my computer. I love Squad. I love KSP. But I cannot recommend throwing money at this game licensed such as it is.

This game basically boils down to "the floor is lava" with frisbees that can cut people's heads off or punt them into said lava. Except the lava is a bottomless void. The controls are simple: WASD for movement, and the mouse buttons for throwing discs. There is no jump or duck function; instead, platforms have jump points that kick you from platform to platform. Scoring a direct hit and kicking another player off a platform into the void is worth one point, as is a decapitation. If your disc bounces once and then hits a player, that's two points. Two bounces is three points, and I imagine this pattern continues, though I've never managed more than two bounces.

This game is great for fast-paced action, although as other reviews have pointed out, not many people play anymore. That being said, I whole-heartedly recommend this game, and at $5, it is an absolute steal.

What I like:
It takes the best elements from all my favorite 4X games (Space Empires V, Star Ruler 2, Endless Space) and blends them together nicely. The diplomacy is deep enough without being distracting or confusing, where SR2's card system was neat, but I found that the whole system was a PITA to deal with, and I ended up either missing things or purposely ignoring them. The ship design is not quite what I would like; I would have liked something closer to SE5, but that's not to say it's bad, I rather like it. The way you can manage different species in your empire is awesome (Purge the filthy xeno scum!), and the recent addition of per-species rights is great.

What I don't like:
The AI. While it's consistent, it's pretty consistently stupid and non-helpful. My enemies are not much of a threat, and when they are, my allies are useless most of the time. Oh they declare war alright, as is required by a defensive pact, but damned if I'm gonna get any kind of assistance from them. My enemies, no matter who started the war, tend to just turtle in their capital while I stomp the rest of their empire to dust. To be fair, however, it has gotten better recently; my allies are only mostly useless.

Overall, I love this game. I feel like Paradox has really hit the nail on the head. And I love that I took a few months break (playing it constantly tends to get you burned out) from this game and I came back and it was even better.

This one is well worth its price!

Fallout 4 is a fun game. Really, it is. It's gritty, there's a lot to find, it looks amazing, and I find the gunplay is incredibly satisfying. But there's a number of problems with it.

Firstly, you're given power armor in the first 30 minutes of the game if you follow the main quest right out of the vault. This is ridiculous, as it basically allows you to walk around like a steel god beating everything to death, including the deathclaw you fight immediately after you get the power armor.

Secondly, if you join the Brotherhood of Steel (not hard to do by the way, you can do it without an hour or two of starting), you're given the second best power armor in the game, FOR FREE..

I can understand the removal of skills. I honestly feel like they wouldn't fit. Perhaps that's a problem in a game that purports to be an RPG. I'm not sure. But Bethesda has lobotomized the everliving bejeezus out of this one, and made it so that even someone with the attention span of a A.D.D-afflicted goldfish can feel like they've finished the game. Hoo-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥-rah.

I'm honestly not sure whether to recommend this game or not. I'm gonna go with "no" for now.

It's really boring. There's not a whole lot to do unless you're easily entertained by the exploration. Although everything is procedurally generated, an impressive feat, it is still not worth the $60. It lacks real content, and what is there, is a grind.

When I heard that Bethesda was actually updating one of their own games, I creamed my pants in shock. I mean, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, to my knowledge they've NEVER done that. This was something new and I was overjoyed, and that's not sarcasm there, that's an honest-to-God assessment of my emotional state at the time I heard this earth-cracking news. I even checked the temperature in Hell just to be sure, and yep, it's still hot as Hell.

So learning that it was purely a graphical update prompted my geek-out-induced hard-on to recede into my body at the speed of something you'd compare something really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ fast to, so far that I'm pretty sure I shat out my defeated meat rod within a few hours. I mean, who does that? It'd be like if Infinity Ward took Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, slapped some slightly higher-resolution textures on it, slathered on an extra helping or two of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sand and Generic Terrorists Type A, and re-released it as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Bethesda didn't even do that.

But I'll tell you what they did do. They took my favorite RPG ever and they made it look ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awesome by default. I mean it's beautiful, the sunsets are awesome, the grass looks exactly this many better, and it just all around looks awesome, there's too many beautiful things to list.

Moving swiftly yonder, while it doesn't warrant the title "Special Edition" in my opinion, it does exactly as advertised, which is a change about as refreshing as a glass of ice-cold, purified water after spending a decade on Venus drinking your own recycled piss, or alternatively, getting some peace and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ quiet after this past rectum-shattering ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ we called a U.S Presidential Election. It has graphical improvements in ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ spades and I am in pants-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awe that Skyrim could look this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ good. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ thank you Fallout 4!

If I could pick one more thing to carry over from said 10 pounds of nuclear aftermath "♥♥♥♥ yeah" in 5 pound bag numero cuatro, it would be the survival difficulty. Holy beagle ♥♥♥♥ that would make my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ decade. Nevermind how much or how little work it would take. If Bethesda wants their Skyrim: Penis Enlargement Pill Edition to go down as the one thing that made Skyrim more than ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ perfect, that's the one thing it's desperately needed for a very long time.

Buy this ♥♥♥♥, 'cause it's already ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sublime. If they decide to throw some extra mojo in there a la Austin Powers, yeah baby, it's gonna be shagga-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥-delic.

This game is amazing, and very unique. I was very much pleased with the way you can turn pretty much anything you can interact with (including rocks) into your own personal soldier, building an army of somewhat-disjointed creations.

I made a squad of flying, fire-breathing corpses. It was hilarious.

Highly recommend. 10/10

I want moar realistic guns plz.

I first heard about this game when I watched a Rooster Teeth: Rage Quit video about it. I did some more searching, briefly watch a video that Nerd³ made about it, and thought it looked interesting. So despite my rib-crushingly small budget this week, I bought this game. After all, it's only $5.

I launched the game, having a slight idea as to what I was doing, meaning I knew there were guns, they were complicated, there were enemies I had to kill, and there were tapes (which tried to get me to question my existence) to be collected. And I found out very quickly that I wasn't far off.

When you start, you're given one of three handguns: A Colt M1911A1, a Glock 17, or a Smith & Wesson Model 10 Revolver. In your average FPS, all of these would be no-brainers; you would simply point, shoot, and keep half an eye on an ammo counter on the bottom right of your screen. In Receiver, on the other hand, all of these weapons work differently. In addition, there is no ammo counter. "Well, ♥♥♥♥," I said to myself. I brought up the help menu (which is paired with a helpful, behind-the-scenes AI that will help you get your gun in to working order!) and figured out the controls for my gun. I got my weapon ready to fire, and set out searching for tapes. Shortly thereafter, I died. "Alrighty then," I mumbled to myself as the game reset. Luckily, I got the same gun next round, this time it was one step away from being ready. Same thing again. Set up gun, go find tapes, die. This will happen a lot. The game randomizes the state your weapon is in when you receive it.

After playing for a few hours, I went to sleep, and the next day I came back to it. Having become familiar with the controls the previous night, the second playthrough was a breeze. The first time I reloaded my gun from muscle memory made me feel awesome. I still died a lot, though. But at least I can load my gun faster.

Receiver is a good game. Well worth the $5.
