You know it's a good game when you realize you missed a meal to play, and then decide to keep on skipping meals just to play more.

It's been a rough road to get here, but I think I can recommend the game now.

Gameplay is solid, visuals are good, the general feel of the game is, for the most part, pretty good and always very much in keeping with the setting.

Also the soundtrack is phenomenal.

Abandonware. Paid for it, it showed promise, could even have been really good, but the devs have fully abandoned it. Now that it's free all you'll waste on it is a little time, but it's still not worth it.

If you've liked other MechWarrior games, you'll love this. Mechwarrior 5 is the best kind of sequel: More of the stuff you love, done better than it was before.

With the choice of Campaign mode, Career mode, of Instant Action, there's a game mode for all tastes, and that's just the Single Player side. With a wide selection of available Mechs and Weapons and a high quality mechlab to get what you want out of your giant walking tanks, it's everything you wanted from MechWarrior.

And all of that is before you consider Online Co-op.

Last but not least, Workshop support means that if there's something you don't love about it, there's probably a fix just a click away.

MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries isn't just the latest in the franchise, it is rightfully the best one yet.

There aren't a lot of games out there that give me this sort of pure joy. I find I am at a loss for words, Stray is simply a triumph. It's going to go down as one of those games with an emotional impact I want to experience for the first time over and over.

Stray is not a long game, it wouldn't be unusual to complete a play through (under 100%, I still haven't found everything) in about 6 hours, but don't let that fool you, not all time is spent equally. Stray isn't just killing time, it's an Experience.

Absolutely incredible. 10/10.

When I first heard about Slay the Spire, all I really took note of was Card Battle Game and Roguelike and I could not have possibly been less interested. Immediately didn't care.

But, I kept hearing about it, again and again, until finally I picked it up just to see what all the commotion was about.

Holy crap. It's so good though. It's SO GOOD THOUGH. This is an absolutely masterful distillation of pure, beautifully executed game design. It's not flashy, it's not trying to impress with the fanciest graphics, it's great strength is in design. Gameplay. And it turns out, that's the important part, that's the fun part. That's why you won't be able to put it down.

I still wouldn't say I like Card Battle Games, or Roguelikes, but Slay the Spire... is absolutely amazing.

If you like Ace Combat, you'll like this.

The game is just FUN. It doesn't care about realism, this isn't a simulator, and you definitely don't need some fancy joystick setup to play. It's just FUN. Arcade jet fighter action at it's best.

I wanted to love this. I really did. I have enjoyed most of the rest of the DLC for Surviving Mars, but Below and Beyond is just... bad.

Both the Underground and the Asteroids only manage to feel like more micromanagement without feeling like they add meaningful content. Both have the same pitfall of needing so much research and so much materials that they are inevitably mid to late game content, but they also stop being Useful well before that, with the sole exception being "Exotic Minerals."

I can't figure out where Exotic Minerals are supposed to sit in Progression, and I don't think the game knows either. The order in which you can unlock things, compared to the point at which you can meaningfully obtain those minerals, makes no sense, and when combined with the lack of any real point it's ultimately not just easier, but more effective to ignore everything B&B tries to offer.

All that is to say, I wouldn't be able to recommend Below and Beyond based solely on it's intended content. Add in the absolutely game-breaking bugs this DLC introduced, however, and it goes from bad to worse. Below and Beyond is an absolute tragedy, not just bad in itself but poisoning the rest of an otherwise good game.

The game is enjoyable, smoothing out some of the rough edges of the original. Unfortunately, they just kept smoothing, and ended up oversimplifying a lot of what made the first game so much fun.

Base building is fun and intuitive, but a few of the menu interactions are a bit clunky.

Still worth playing, particularly if you're a fan of the genre, but I wouldn't count on this being some long-lived classic.

I really want to love this game. It comes so maddeningly close to being a game I would really love, but every time I get back into it, X4: Foundations just drops the ball right before the goal line.

Let's start with the Good. X4 looks great most of the time, sounds good, and in a lot of ways it FEELS good. Just about any ship you see you can, eventually, own. Any ship you own, you can personally fly. There is something profoundly satisfying about getting into your tiny little scout ship, then landing on the pad of your massive Destroyer, getting out and going to take personal command of this capitol ship yourself.

You can build stations of your own, stations that can, with the right investment, produce any of the goods in the game, and even nearly any of the ships. It feels great to have a fleet of mining ships and a horde of transports working to carve your own niche into the Galactic market, a market that is SUPPOSED to actually be driven by real supply and demand.

Supposed to be. But maybe isn't. Plenty of times I've seen whole corners of the galaxy grind to a halt because they need, and cannot find, some niche resource. Factions that can't produce ships, stations that won't finish building, products that just don't get made, because while demand is sky high, there just isn't a supply.

I've seen mining fleets simply refusing to collect the resources necessary to fuel your own stations, flying half way across the galaxy to collect yet more of something you have plenty of while ignoring what is already bottlenecking your production.

And there are a dozen more examples, on top of it. Tasks that are easy, even almost intuitive to assign, but then aren't properly executed, NPC behavior that is just... abysmally bad. The terrible voice acting I could excuse (And it really is hilariously bad almost all the time,) the broken economy I could work around, but the fact that the game simply refuses to DO the things you TELL it to just ultimately breaks the whole experience.

I want to love X4: Foundations. I will probably keep trying to love it, keep trying to play and enjoy it despite itself. Sadly, this feels like a game that just keeps constantly tripping over itself, and at this point I have no expectation of any real fixes.
