Perhaps the only game where disability access in the form of ASL will actively harm you 😭 It's clever and costs like a dollar and if 5 people buy it my friend Elliott could get like a cheap coffee or something and he deserves a lot more than just a cheap coffee

My favorite NFS & 2nd favorite racer to Burnout Paradise. Really feels like Ghost have taken everything that's worked in the series and got it all into one slick, super enjoyable game.

My biggest gripes w/ the game are still pretty minor. The world design sometimes feels uninteresting- ramps and collectibles tend to be in weird spots that you don't really have any other reason to go through, unlike Paradise where just about every corner of the map felt worth visiting in some way.

It would've been nice to see the level requirements and rewards for future events to feel a bigger push to keep upgrading my car- toward the end of the story I kind of assumed I hit a wall in my progress without realizing I could make money + rep much faster by kitting out my car further instead of saving for a supercar, etc.

I think drift sections with scores are nice but I will never understand why we're putting scored jumps in games- it's so weirdly specific and annoying to retry, without involving much skill- not a huge deal unless you want to get the collectible cars for 3-starring those challenges though.

After seeing the recent positive reviews I figured I should give this game a chance. It definitely kept me engaged for a few hours, but in a very love-hatey way. There's lots of variation: lots of different types of vehicles, and an enormous map. It just sucks that they don't feel good- as an arcade racer, nothing feels fast or fun. The map is disappointing- I don't actually want to drive through *any* areas in this game. This is all not to mention that everything else in the game: the interface, characters, "story", all of the context that you're racing in is completely soulless and uninteresting. Lots of racing games have varied soundtracks with some good songs / radio channels, but I found almost all of it pretty unlistenable in this game.

First and foremost, this game has a small, enthusiastic community building on its Discord that are pleasant to talk to, and can help you find more ways to play and enjoy the game. The primary developer is active there and very receptive of feedback- the game feels like it's evolving quickly into something with very solid core gameplay, and enjoyable features that support that & flesh out the universe around it.

Kitten Burst delivers on racing that can be smooth and heart-pounding as you get the hang of it, and has a ton of depth in exactly how you "build" your character, how you route through levels, and the ability to switch between different types of boost.

The biggest downside to the game, for me, is that the level design sometimes doesn't feel like it's taking full advantage of these cool mechanics. Some courses are more intricate without providing much guidance, so they can feel a bit scattered and confusing. Similarly, exploring around the open worlds can feel a bit slow and clunky at times where there's large distances without obstacles to boost off of- relying on the player to "surf" on long stretches of terrain or singular objects. As of writing, visibility on some of these things, like bright metallic surfaces in Anemoi Station, can be low, making it hard to judge how far you are from the obstacle, and surfing becomes difficult to a frustrating degree.

The story is cute, engaging, and very "human" feeling- it feels a bit lacking though in that conversations with NPCs found around levels are somewhat surface level, remarks that sort of build the atmosphere of the stage and the overall condition of the characters within it, but not so much them as individuals.

Excellent, small, calming adventure and exploration game with a clear, meaningful message. Some of the dialogue feels a little out-of-character, but it's not a significant hinderance or downside; it's really one of the only things I would say could be improved.

Finished main quest in ~24 hours, doing side stuff as i came across it and wanted to buff up and find better gear. Biomutant was generally fun and charming. For the first 2/3 or so, I felt like the game had some rough edges (a lot of them fixed by the first patch, which was great), but was fun overall.

It became harder to say I'd recommend because the last third of the game kinda ran out of steam, both narratively and in terms of evolving gameplay. I got a good setup, was tearing through everything with one assault rifle, and just rushed the main quest cause nothing was meaningfully changing. Despite that, I'd hesitantly recommend the game (at the full $60 price) for the following qualities-

-playful, colorful aesthetic
-challenging and diverse combat experience (until I got really supreme gear in the last 1/3 of the main quest)
-adventure that feels like a great evolution of early 2000s platformers mixed with modern adventures. It's just fun and chill, nothing very cryptic or heavy.

Solid melee combat, and probably one of the most polished games to come out of DigiPen. There's a lot going on in this game, and it all works quite well!

This is a cute game with decent dialogue, interesting-enough characters, and bullet hell platforming that feels... alright, but is probably my least favorite part of the game.

One of the first things that stood out to me was the solid voice acting. This is hard to get right in a student project, and Elliott and the other folks he had voice act did a great job here.

The humor is generally good, but I felt like its implementation in gameplay was unnessecarily punishing. Rather than choosing dialogue options based on what I thought a character would be attracted to, it often felt like a crapshoot, and the game telling me a joke at the expensive of pissing off the character unexpectedly. Restarting is easy enough, but having that portion of the game feel like it was up to randomness instead of smart dialogue choices was frustrating.

The bullet hell stuff also got outrageous at times. Even if a lot of my shots were landing, the screen would fill with obstacles much faster than I could shoot. Getting the first couple of permanent abilities is a real struggle, but then, if you have a good build, everything after feels too easy. Double jump + glide felt pretty busted... kind of fun, but made dodging so easy it didn't feel nearly as fun.

The game's twist was also unexpected and great, with one gameplay caveat- not selecting choices through the last discussion is disappointing. So much of the game builds to that, letting the player actually make a choice there would've been wonderful. I didn't do any of the post-game content cause I wasn't the biggest fan of the bullet hell gameplay.

I don't know that this game can be completed alone. There are bosses and timed shooting challenges that seem like they would be alright with 2 or more players, but I can't fathom how I would complete them alone, and I'm pretty seasoned in VR and challenging games in general at this point. Fixed a lot of the painful traversal in the first game, but everything I've had to do with the bow (except for killing one easy, tiny enemy) has been absurd.

The game feels amazing, and I think the pacing of the content is really good. Every level teaches you something new or introduces some spin to the base concept, and the game has a lot of cool surprises up its sleeve. Completing this game took a lot of time and effort. 16 hours, most of which were really tense praying I would survive. I think the $20 point would probably feel like a bit too much for a lot of players, but for $10 or 15 it would be a great value.
