This is going to be hard to write.

I think it's best to start at the core of the game, the driving and racing experience; it's terrible. Cornering is bizarrely difficult and the game's attempt at a drifting mechanic is indecipherable. Pressing the brake to corner results in the car speeding up and losing all traction, causing you to uncontrollably fly into the guard rail if you're lucky, if not off the road completely. The driving AI has some of the worst rubber-banding I've ever experienced. It makes racing frustrating, as all vehicles will invariably be faster than you and will also do everything in their power to ram you off the road; not helped by the awful driving controls. Recovering your car is often impossible.

And if you choose to fight back and take down other cars, best of luck to you. Upon wrecking another car, the camera will cut away to show you the janky weightless carnage you caused. You will have no control over your car in this time, and the game is very likely to hand control back over to you just in time for you to wreck and lose your position in the event, or glitch you into a prop and force you to reload the event from the beginning. I don't enjoy ripping into the game like this, I really wanted to like Wreckreation, but a racing game lives or dies by its driving mechanics, and this game's mechanics are inexcusable. It genuinely makes me question if this game was play-tested.

This is unfortunately, only the beginning of the problems for Wreckreation. The map is massive, but completely devoid of life or interesting locations. The collectibles are so numerous that collecting them becomes a chore. And many of the collectibles are massive floating spinning props that look ugly and break immersion. The UI design for this game is trapped in 2008, and is somehow a downgrade from Burnout Paradise. The Live Mix element is poorly optimized, and attempting to place larger props frequently causes the game to freeze, requiring you to hard-restart the game. Customization is severely limited, and decals are not separate from paint, so advanced versions of vehicles often only allow for one decal design, and then a series of generic paint selections if you'd like the vehicle in another color.

If I'm looking for positives, I will say that the vehicle designs are fantastic. They all look believable and have a high degree of quality. The core premise of the game is interesting, and I would like to see the game improved upon and fixed over time. If the developers are willing to rework broken and clunky game mechanics, revise the world design. add more customization options, and improve the finished product in the forseeable future, I will retract my negative review.

Unfortunately, I've seen the development roadmap and can tell that the developers are falling over themselves to push out DLC as soon as they feasibly can. In order for this game to be good, the developers are going to have to revisit virtually every aspect and rework it. The game has to be gutted and rebuilt for that to happen. This is not the spiritual successor to Burnout I was hoping for. Unless a lot of work and time is put into this thing, it is at best an unfortunate failed imitation of Burnout Paradise.

In its present form, I cannot recommend this at all. Save your money.

Very similar to the original Islanders game, but the addition of boons augments the game play dramatically and fixes the issues I initially had with the game. Smaller tweaks also help improve game play in smaller ways, and the new biomes and soundtrack are the the red bow on top of it all.

I absolutely adore this game. It mixes comedy and violence to a masterful degree, and manages to make level repetition feel fresh. All with distinct visual flair and art direction. My only complaint is that the story feels short, but apart from that I completely recommend this game.

The game looks beautiful, and I wish I could say good things, but unfortunately, the game is borderline unplayable. The tutorial is worthless; it doesn't tell you the game controls, and there is no way to look them up. The gameplay expects the player to perform tasks that it doesn't explain how to accomplish. Anything you manage to build before you inevitably run out of pieces looks dead and lifeless. Look up Islanders instead, it's a much stronger version of what this wants to be.

Its a nice idea of mediocre execution, while I rescind my initial negative review, I still think this game a lot of ground to cover before it's truly good. I hope in additional updates the game reaches the point where I can fully recommend it.

I've been meaning to write a review for this game for a long time, but have never been able to decide if I would recommend this or not. I have played far too many hours in the singleplayer and enjoy that immensely, but the online expirience was dodgy to begin with, and has been getting progressively worse with each passing month. Two things cemented my answer.

The first thing being the most recent update to the game, the update builds a massive paywall to overcome, and actively discourages cooperation in favor of going it alone to accomplish difficult tasks for little reward. The power creep on weapons and vehicles is completely insurmountable. Online is a depressing time sink and for a while I sought refuge by playing around with singleplayer using mods to increase game lifespan.

With the cease and desist request thrown at OpenIV for seemingly no reward and at the expense of an entire community of people who mod singleplayer, I cannot recommend this game for PC at all. Singleplayer mods were the only reason anyone would buy this game for PC over console. Console has a much more secure online expirience, with the PC online expirience vulnerable to modders sabotaging your account and even taking personal information and IP addresses.

If I were to recommend the game, it would be to get it for console because of the more secure online expirience. But I don't recommend the online expirience as a whole, it isn't very fun, and as of now, I can't recommend singleplayer for more than a few dozen hours, without mods there isn't much to do.

This was touching, felt personal, and spoke volumes about art, artists, and asks why we really create art. I got this for Christmas, so I can't speak for the price, but this, as an experience, was immensely profound. I wouldn't take it back.

A simple and easy to understand puzzle game with minimalistic appeal and a fair amount of challenge that doesn't feel too hard, but not too easy either.

Despite countless moments of terror and panic, this game is probbaly the most fun I've ever had with isometric graphics and I cannot recommend this game enough.
