Before this game is flooded with positive reviews by console peasants, who recently discovered PC gaming and like to rate every sh*t console game ported 10/10 while playing them with gamepads, lemme throw some facts out there for the regular PC gamers:

• A good old fashioned top down RPG with the most basic premise ever, taking place in the beloved Baldur's Gate universe. Premise is so dumb that your character gets ambushed in the most hilarious way possible, on an empty street (not even an alley, a STREET).

Alright, enough with the positives.

Let's get to the pile of "cons" this game is littered with, in the first 45 mins of me enduring it.

• Remember that time when you played Titan Quest, Grim Dawn, Torchlight, Neverwinter Nights and wondered to yourself, "Man, this game would be even better if the interface/controls and the visuals were designed for a one handed man with inability to see textures above 120x120 pixels.", remember?
  
  Yeah well, you hit the motherload with Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance.
  
  
• Blurry textures are a feature. The only thing that stood out were the jiggly breasts of the barkeep. Only characters seem to have 256x256 res textures applied, everything else has vaseline rubbed on it.
  
  
• Missing video options. What's that? You want to customize the graphics? How about a brightness slider? BAM, there. Enjoy. That's console level customizability.
  
  
• Control options? How about no? Don't you guys own a gamepad? No? Well enjoy rotating the camera with keys cause adding a proper mouse and keyboard support for a f*cking ACTION RPG, they are releasing on a PC, would've cost them some extra bucks (at-least 1000 dorrar more).
  
  
• You know what? How about we make it worse for you PC f*cks who are playing this game on your.. RTX and sh*t? How about we introduce some mouse acceleration in the menu? How about no sensitivity option for mouse, at all?
  
  
• This costs money. That's a con. They should be paying me to beta test this pile of sh*t.
  
  
• Overwriting saves corrupts them. Oh and you have to SCROLL ALL THE WAY DOWN TO CREATE A NEW F*ING SAVE. That option should be on top, but for that, you need actual UI/UX designers and a UI designed for PC, not a f*cking gamepad.
  
  
• You have to actually "activate" secret walls. Normally, you hit them to break them, not in this game. But the best part is the loot. You gather it.. at-least you think you did, but come back to the same area again and notice all of the gold lying around. Game actually doesn't pick-up most of the loot on first go. How does that work exactly?
  
  
• Overpriced. This is a $5 game, being sold for $30.
  
  
• No Steam achievements or trading cards. Nothing. Now pay $30 for this dumpster fire.

There. This was my quick, “45-min” review.. I won't refund it, since I don't have many action-RPGs to go through. Maybe they'll spend some money on fixing it and make it less sh*t, who knows?

Should've just handed this to Beamdog. They are masters at spending 10 years fixing things fans have already fixed.

Wrote this review after 45 mins in. After 1.1 hrs in, I'm done. This game is garbage.

If the muddy visuals aren't enough to turn you off (Diablo 2 was released one year before this, looks better as well), then the godawful controls designed for gamepads, along with garbage hit-boxes on enemies will. You know why I complain about gamepad? I'm playing on PC. Make it work for PC controls or f*ck off with your garbage port.

Refunding this. You can waste your money, after putting on nostalgia goggles, if you want. I'm too old to waste my time with such nonsense.


Removed "regional pricing" from PROS. This game is overpriced. Regional pricing doesn't mean jack. Read comments under review for more details. Oh and yes, I refunded this already. I'll save that money in Steam wallet for the upcoming sales.
