I think Duke of Defense does a good job blending tower defense with light rpg elements. The addition of a skill system in spite of its simplicity gives you a feeling of personal progression for your character. The player attacking is also simple, but its fun being able walk up and attack enemies for yourself rather than fully relying on your towers. The game has nice pixel art style with pleasant colors, and just great music. Assuming the few problems I have with the game (like the lack of motive to replay levels) get addressed upon full release, I think for $10 this game is pretty good especially if you take advantage of parsec and the local multiplayer to play with a friend like I did.

Far too grindy for my taste, early game was pretty fun with friends but as you go on there really isn't much to do.

I'm running this game on a 2gb gtx 650, I have to turn down my settings quite a bit but even then this game is beyond fun especially with friends. So far the most annoying part of the game is the start where they more or less teach you how to play, and the emotionless eyes people have when talking sometimes. Im currently saving up for a gtx 960 so I can better enjoy this game but Honestly this is a must buy, techland you indeed have redeemed yourself!
