I am giving this a recommended rating because like many others I think it has a lot to offer. IT feels like a mix of games like Divinity Original Sin, Dungeons of Dredmor, Battle Brothers and is a weird RPG, Roguelike, Dungeon Crawler, Turn Based hybrid. It has a sort of dark Diablo 2 and Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance vibe and running through the woods really has a lot of ambiance due to the fog of war shadow like view radius. Every move you make is basically like one turn of the world and after you have made your move the world makes its move. The villagers are on a set path and will move one spot everytime you complete your move. This gives the game sort of a choppy feel though and makes movement sort of annoying. You can use the arrow keys to move to avoid having to click, click, click, click ,click. The game starts with the tutorial that gives you a few weapons to test and some spells to play with. You move through a relatively easy dungeon and then fight the tutorial boss that is refreshingly difficult and tight use of tactics is important. It definitely sets the tone for the game though and will may very likely piss you off until you finally trial and error you way to victory. This game though largely feels like the epitome of RNG due to the random generated dungeons. These dungeons include enemies that vary in location and toughness each time you die. You basically click on an enemy and use spells until either you or he dies. Unlocking more abilities and spells makes it more entertaining but leveling up is definitely a feat and you'll be lucky to live through it. Living through it is something that is difficult and will kill your motivation to play. You die and you go back to your last save. Your last save is ultimately going to be in the tavern bed located in the room that you have to pay 10 gold to rent out for 24 hours. The save system is definitely needing to be quality of life improved. I think that one of the first quests should be the typical "Hey here's a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ house you can have since you turned in these contracts and I want you to stick around for awhile and help clean up this area of the world". A personal home that you can upgrade to not only look cooler and personalized but also save, cook, grow your own crops, sharpen your weapons, drink your beers and lay your wives will definitely help improve this game. Saving though really needs to improve because investing 5 minutes just in walking to a location only to die in an ambush is really demotivating. An on command save system or constant auto save system would definitely be nicer. I can think of many fun and exciting game features that would improve the game like a boss/trophy system similar to the Witcher 3. This game sort of feels like it would be really good at a combat based Graveyard Keeper. What I mean by that is you make money from contracts and in turn upgrade your land and home. This game though feels like it's trying to be too much though and needs to become more of a RPG Diablo 2 esque game instead of a Dungeon Crawler. The save system like I said is the most defeating thing, I am all for a challenging experience but I just wish I could spawn at the beginning of an instance instead of 10 miles away in my bed at the inn. Over all this is early access and so I am not expecting the world at this point. I think that it is a solid bare boned experience that has a lot of foundation to build off. The only thing that would ruin this game is inconsistent development I think that they won't see a huge boom of downloads until a lot is improved and implemented.
