The Steam Controller (for me and others around the web at least) requires you to launch Steam in administrator mode.

This is a security hole as the Steam client also acts as a web browser, and if that part of the steam client were to be compromised (through viewing a malformed page (or even advertisement)), your computer is much easier to compromise in that mode.

Some people don’t seem to have this problem, others do. Your call.

Valve would be better to have a standard driver for this piece of hardware, but I guess in their wisdom, they wish for the steam client to be able to handle driver updates for feeble minded people.

Never was able to get it going. This seems to be a problem for a lot of people in the forums. So please beware. Thankfully Valve currently (as of this post) has refunds (which worked for me) so giving it a shot yourself shouldn't hurt much if it doesn't work for you and you stay within the refund parameters.
