Big fan of the first Cities Skylines game and was excited to try out the second installment. I have to say, while the game is not the best in terms of optimization, I was still able to get good FPS.
My specs are - i7-10700k
Nvidia RTX 2070 Super
32GB of DDR4 RAM
I was a little worried about the game's performance after reading some reviews that complained about the game's optimization issues. However, after tweaking some settings like depth of field, sync, and motion blur, I was able to get decent FPS. I could run the game at 40-45 fps in the menu and 70-75 fps on an empty map. When I got to a population of 15k, I did experience drops in FPS but nothing to make it unplayable just yet. Best guess that it might be 25k to 30k population but I still have to grow my city to find the actual limit. I remain hopeful that the developers will address these optimization issues and improve the game's performance for all players. Overall, despite the optimization issues, Cities Skylines 2 is still a great game with a lot to offer for fans of the city-building genre.
