i wanted an easy to drop into game, instead i spend first 90 minutes to unlock 1 gun and 2 items and a few permanent perks.

just not what i expected i guess based on rest of the games in the genre.

tldr: refunded after 90 mins of gameplay

why does online play not have the option to add AI?
literally the most basic functionality in all other games...

no reason to buy this game, just go and play for free on other platforms...

Pretty good overall game. nice and simple. the single player is great, the multiplayer with friends is great as well.
I do not play this game competitively, so cannot comment on that aspect.

edit: 100+ hours into the game and still enjoying it. I would HIGHLY recommend expansion packs. depending on your playstyle, you are more likely to enjoy one over the other. Therefore, make sure to watch youtube videos before buying.

Bought this with a friend who loves other Paradox games (he plays Crusader Kings and Hearts of Iron). I am familiar with Stellaris. So both of us more or less know what we are doing. We have watched videos on the game as well to get familiar with it.

This has to be one of the most frustrating games i have EVER played. They have a lot of interesting and new mechanics but it just feels like they have 20 different mechanics that sound cool, but are just there to keep you busy with random crap.
The name of this game should be "unnecessary complexity for the sake for complexity". Stuff just keeps getting thrown at you... This is especially an issue in multiplayer where you don't really want to pause.

I would NEVER RECOMMEND THIS to a noobie. I would also strongly not recommend this game to anyone who is thinking of buying it in general. I thought that they have fixed the issues that they had since the launch, but the game is still full garbage. I can't even imagine how bad it was at launch...

Therefore, save your money and spend it somewhere else, on a game that is not hot poopcakes.

Definitely a super fun game. Came for the memes, stayed for the waifus

Great game. Got it as a gift from a friend and then purchased most of the expansions.
So far put in 160+ hours. Will put in many MANY more hours.

Base game has been updated and is fun to play .
The expansions add interesting mechanics. They are kind of mandatory if you want to partake in gameplay that is not linear each time you play. Base game gets stale really fast.

Some issues with balance, but that is to be expected. developers constantly do updates, so i expect most issues to be resolved shortly.
Machine Emprire - Determined Exterminator gameplay at the moment is REALLY messed up. Do NOT play them. Wait until the fix is in and then go for it (people have been complainin for over a year about how weak they are thou... the new patch makes them even weaker due to random tech).

As mentioned in other reviews there is a bit of a frame lag midgame to lategame. I have a ROG lappy and the issue is not TOO bad. Still playable. I would assume laptops without dedicated GPU would struggle significantly.
