Don't get me wrong - I loved Crysis Warhead back in the day. A short and sweet standalone campaign that runs in parallel to the original Crysis while also attempting to improve on the gameplay.
It's just a shame that the game is critically unstable and tends to crash all the time nowadays, so I can't recommend it to a modern buyer...

60fps emulated games -> 120fps or even 240fps with minor visual glitches. What more can you ask for?

Edit: Steam wants me to play (again) and update a game I nominated, so here we go. Battlefield 6 is still modern live-service slop. Great gameplay, terrible framing. Why can't games be fun for the fun of it? Anyway, original review below.

Yes, it's Battlefield. Yes, the moment-to-moment gameplay is tuned mostly just right. Yes, the game looks good and runs great. "Battlefield is back", as they say...

...Except I can't say that. Not really.
You see, already back in Battlefield 2042's launch period I vocally lamented what I perceived as player-hostile progression design, with slow unlocks and XP limits in Portal custom servers. More so than ever before, a Battlefield game was designed to waste your time and to keep you returning to it, time and again, if you wanted to have a hope of unlocking all weapons, gadgets and alternate vehicle loadouts.
This was not a matter of a lack of instant gratification, as many players often tried to point out in error. This was, and still is, a matter of arbitrarily long playtime requirements that needlessly forced you to play the game the same way, artificially, just so you could unlock one thing.

That was Battlefield 2042, mind you.

Battlefield 6 is SO MUCH WORSE about this!
Weapons, class gadgets, attachments - everything here is locked away behind OBSCENELY LONG progression requirements, be they enemy kill numbers or some specific assignments. The assignments, with requirements that not always seem practical given how gameplay flows in the game, are especially bad. Many assignments don't even start tracking until you meet some previous requirement, itself gated by a minimum level requirement.
Make no mistake: Battlefield 6 is a live service product. There will be (paid) battle passes, there will be paid cosmetics and there probably will be paid unlock boosters, just as with previous games. Every bit of player-hostile design is pre-calculated.

No matter how good the game feels to play, I simply cannot recommend it.
Whether a game is free to play with microtransactions or a paid game with microtransactions or a similar variation - if the game is designed to waste your time and to keep you on a short leash while baiting you with the hopes of maybe getting to use some new mechanic or some new in-game item that DOES make a difference... My answer is no.

I'll probably keep playing the game from time to time as I always do enjoy playing Battlefield with friends, but I have no illusions about the game itself, and I'll probably not be FOMO'd into grinding it out.
