Personal experience:
- First playthrough, got swarmed and raped at Day 5
- Second playthrough, forgot to reinforce a wall on one side, got steamrolled by the monsters
- Third playthrough, got rekted by golem thingy at Day 20

Short review:
This game is worth it, if that is all you needed to hear to buy the game. This game is challenging, it gets harder every milestone, and you will definitely lose a lot of time, A LOT. But that doesn't mean the game is unbeatable. This is the type of game that you need to invest some time to test out different strategies to optimize your survival. This game is one of those game that you get a sense of achievement whenever you survive a day.
In short, Kingdom has a hidden charm that even though the player loses, he/she will still come back to challenge the game again.

Get it if you REALLY REALLY REALLY want to see blood and other ♥♥♥♥ in your game.
Personally I got it just out of curiousity. I wanted to see whether to it will change the feel of the game. Honestly speaking, it didn't change much. The effects were barely okay, I rarely see decapitations or dismemberments during battles. Most of the time I saw a decapitation was after battle on the campaign map where my general decapitated the enemy, and it's nothing special over time.
