Despite being a fantastic example of zero to hero as a startup developer, the team at Warhorse studios has laid off a translator in favour of using AI to do their localizations, alongside other noncommital comments about using AI in their development process going forward. I won't be buying products from this company going forward as a result. It's unfortunate.

Official NA servers run by the developers are overrun with pubscent yankees shouting "Digger" and "Ni***r" with seemingly little to no moderation. Among other slurs.

The rest of the game is as you'd expect. Napoleonic wars but WW1, objects usually have bigger hitboxes than they appear so your bullets are eaten. Some of the guns animations break and the bolt is stuck in the loading position, and the sniper scopes are.... absolutely abysmal.

Those are my only complaints so far, the rest is fine. It would be quite fun even, if I didn't have to turn off the voicechat entirely to stop having to hear these unsupervised children saying stuff like that.

Edit: Changing the review in light of recent moderation adjustments that improved the experience.

Mmmmm.... Too difficult, not enough successful runs to give me any dopamine. Just die die die die. Also trying to run squads the matchmaker will just match you with three of the same shell, making your team's usually suck ass.

There's a lot here I want to like, but the matchmake (or lack thereof) makes it so only if you're really good at competitive shooters are you able to get the full experience. TTK is immensely unforgiving, we're talking a second or less downtime depending on the weapon. For shells that have say, a forward shield ability- it's completely useless in an ambush since its cast time is slower than the TTK.

90% of the weapon augments are too niche to really be helpful. "If it's sunday, and you ate a chicken wing in the last 40 seconds, get a moderate heal if you killed an enemy runner." type of niche. Also, the only way to get tier 0 healing items is by running sponsor kits, which lack a backpack or shield. So if you want to run a normal kit with a backpack you either need to have tier 1 healing items stocked, or pay 900+1.2k=2.1k per run for the healing items alone if you want enough to heal yourself to full once.

It all feels very much like they asked an AI how to balance an extraction shooter, because no normal human would have bad these weird decisions if they actually played the product they were making.

(It also is not supported on Linux, which is always a huge L)

Unfortunately, I cannot play it anymore. At some point it just decided it would crash every time it finished loading a new run.

(edit: Turn off ultra texture settings to fix this issue. I'm swapping it to positive for the time being)

A couple matches in, it ain't bad. People are being a lil harsh. It's just a 3v3 siege em up with monetization that doesn't look aggregious (save for the gryphon mounts being like 27CAD)

This is not the concord 2 people wanted it to be (which is good. It's actually alright as far as hero shooters go.)

I actually found myself enjoying it. Some people are being a little eccentric with the "make it 6v6!!" I think with the abilities on offer from the current roaster 4v4 is probably as high as you can push that without the abilities becoming terribly oversaturated in teamfights during raids on the enemy base. IT's very close quarters packed.

Don't try to do placements as a solo in competitive. It's actually painful. As a healer/support you'll be dived and nobody will know how to peel.

The unifying faction you create when you confederate (United Maritime Patrol) doesn't make and armies and defend itself. And you, without any of the income of the vast territories you confederated into it will have to somehow manage to defend it with very limited income.

They need to fix the maritime faction AI stat!!

Mixed bag. Soooo many bugs at launch. Very deep as a baseline, but like some other paradox games at launch it just kinda isn't there yet yeah? The tipping point was the UI looking the same as every other Grand Strat or city builder these days. Very unoriginal.
