While this content has its positives, overall, it simply is not fun, and falls far short of the standard which had been set by previous DLC expansions. While I was overall not a major fan of Afterbirth, the items, challenges, and transformations allowed me to justify the purchase; this is something which this DLC unfortunately lacks as it feels rushed and incomplete. In comparison to the previous DLCs, and the base game, it is not feature-rich enough to justify its price, and it actively weakens the game. I would highly recommend you do not purchase or install this; yes it may currently have a reduced price, but it isn't worth even that at the moment without some radical alterations, so you're better off waiting until there are some major fixes and changes to this DLC than buying it at even a reduced price.

The new character, challenges, and items are overall quite strong. The primary new character provides an interesting twist to the gameplay, with a unique item that is very fun to use overall. The new challenges are very entertaining, and provide unique twists to the gameplay. The items are varied, and expand upon the existing item set in a consistent, thematically appropriate, and fun manner. They, in general, do not radically alter the gameplay, but compliment the existing item base.

The new enemies, new room styles, additional gameplay mode, quantity of content, and additional chapter is distinctly lacking. The enemies overall are simply not fun. The additional bosses feel incomplete with missing animations (teleporting bosses without telegraph? Re-using existing content?) and lacking balance (Sister Vis and Big Horn in particular). Unless you have an already over-powered run with a ridiculous damage output and substantial quantity of health, these are run-ending bosses who simply are not fun to fight. The new enemies pose not only annoyances which extend the length of a room in an unfun fashion (Stone Fatties), but can be run-endingly unbalanced and unfun to fight (Enemy Spawners on initial floors, which are far too common; and which later spawn bosses if encountered on The Cathedral) depending on the room layout.

The new rooms which are enemy-packed can be impossible to avoid damage on, add to the feeling that not only does the new DLC make the game tougher in a way that feels unfair (in contrast to the original Binding of Isaac which I would feel is tougher than Rebirth but not in a cheap manner) but gives the distinct impression that it was simply not playtested and balanced enough to ensure the game is beatable with all its characters (The Lost). The new Greedier Mode is similarly poorly balanced, the waves not only come faster but the reduction of coins feels unnecesary; Greed Mode's reception was mixed, and this does little to address the issues that were present in it while introducing a host more.

The new chapter which re-uses pre-existing assets feels lazy and uninspired in comparison to the wonderfully unique areas in the base game, contributes not only to the sensation of it being a rushed and incomplete DLC, but makes it feel sparse of content, something furthered by the new challenges which, while great, are very limited at five (in contrast to Rebirth's original twenty, and the ten introduced in Afterbirth).

Overall, because of how The Binding of Isaac downloadable content integrates into the base game, this DLC is not only weak in isolation, but it actively makes the entire game worse. If you enjoy the Binding of Isaac, I would not recommend buying or installing this DLC unless it is radically altered.
