The review bombs are sad to see and say alot about the culture with the video gaming community. The game is not bad at all. It's performance is not bad at all, although to make it clear, of course it could be better optimized. That being said i get 144fps on low with a 3060ti. The gameplay is very solid, love the movement and the resource gathering is quick and efficient. Is it the best game i've ever played? Of course not. But the amount of hate this game is getting is not warranted in the slightest. I'm sorry wildlight for the fact this game likely won't survive the test of time.

Undisputably the best VR game ever made. I don't think anything will ever come close unless Valve makes another VR game.

I LIKE THIS GAME

To start with, I think this game is definitely worth it's asking price at the moment. That being said, It's still definitely got a long way to go before I consider it to be complete (Which is totally fair, as it's in early access which is the entire point of it).

Pros: The game has a rock solid physics base that has decent challenge but also is accessible enough to casual players that it can be enjoyed by anyone. The graphics were also nailed here, the game looks exactly as a "re-imagined" 90s rally game should look. There's also a really decent selection of cars currently in the game that I think gives a good amount of variation as you play through.

Cons: The biggest gripe I have with this game in it's current state is none of the game is truly a "rally", Yeah, you go through stages and damage carries over, but the times don't, which to me is a pivotal part of rallies. Instead, what the game opts to do is have individual times you need to beat in each stage. This means there is no positions in the rally, you either win or lose, and if you blunder a special stage it just forces you to retry until you don't fail it. This is a massive problem, and I hope the developer changes this at some point. I also feel the game has far too weak damage. Hitting a tree at 160KPH should not take just 10% of your cars health. The game is also far too easy; I found myself beating the required times for each stage by over 15 seconds regularly, sometimes even 30 seconds.

Things to improve/add:
- The game should absolutely add more areas of damage to the vehicle, and have settings to allow damage to be more sensitive. This would do a great deal to adding to the immersion of the game and adding a difficulty spike that's greatly needed.
- The UI is a little bit lackluster. It feels a bit like a mobile game and could use a change down the road.
- The game's audio engine sucks, plain and simple. It's annoying and repetitive, and I believe it should get a full re-do at some point.

In conclusion: I enjoy Old School Rally. I think the game is absolutely worth it at the price tag it's at right now, and it'd be a great support to the developer to buy the game and assist with his development. I believe with time the game could become excellent, but definitely has a lot of room to improve in it's current state. After all; that's the point of early access. The game hasn't been labelled as ready yet for a reason. I will absolutely update this review as the game further develops with my updated thoughts.
