One of the best indi games I've played in a looooong time. The art, sound, and overall concept, are unique and original, instead of the plethora of copy\paste trash that plagues the industry. From the second you start playing you know that the devs put all their heart and effort into perfecting the game. I came into this never playing the first two Samorost games, but it didn't matter.

Instantly the art\animations jumped right out at me, and appreciated how detailed thier hand drawn, 2D world looked. Textures are crisp, models are intracately shaped, and every location is unique and detailed to the very last pixel. There is NO copy\paste in any of these scenes, which is pretty amazing. The "2.5D" art style adds a ton of depth to the scenes. Every time I'd switch to a new zone, I would move closer to my screen, trying to pick out every little detail.

The sound design instantly stood out as well, it is truely unique. While it's typical to build the sound around the setting; in Samorost, the setting is built around the sound as well. Most (if not all) puzzles are designed around audio and visual cues to help you solve them. Once you do, random sounds will combine to form musical "riffs" to form a flowing track.

Aside from the ambient music track, all of the sounds are voiced. They are made with a series of mumbles, coos, and grunts that create every sound. The ambient music was soothing yet haunting, calm but upbeat. Very hard to describe, but it helped set the mood even further.

The only con I had was some of the transitions between locations takes a little long, but it gives you more time to appreciate the hard work that must have went into this game for such a small team.

The game gave me ~8 hrs of play to complete the story and collect all of the achievements (I did use a guide to collect a few). There isn't really any replay value, but the game delivered 100% of it's value (for me) in the time I got out of it.

If you have ANY interest in the genre, then you need to play this game. I bought it on sale, but I would have easily paid full price.

9.5\10

While the concept is really cool and the core game is pretty damn fun; the controls and camera views really drag the enjoyment factor down. For some God-awful reason they used a turn-based strategy control scheme in an RTS tower\defense game; it makes absolutely no sense.

I was constantly fighting to put the camera where I need it to see wtf is going on. For some reason the camera doesn't pan vertically, so you're stuck with a very narrow view of the battlefield which has enemies coming from all angles. There is a top-down view that shows much more of the battlefield, but it's probably the most boring way to play the game.

With the tilt\pan camera, you have to constanlty be scrolling over the battlefield because the view is so restricted. But that leads to another annoying issue when the scrolling will pause if the mouse cursor passes over emplacements. There's absolutely no reason for it other than to make scrolling around even more difficult.

The unit menus have a radial-type menu where you select upgrades and actions. However, once a unit has been highlighted, left-clicking ANYWHERE else on the screen will complete the highlighted action; even if your mouse pointer is nowhere near the button. Again, it makes no sense and is annoying if you just want to click on another unit.

Controlling units (mainly aircraft) can be difficult because of the forced mouse accelleration. Control can act anywhere from sluggsh to super twitchy\sensitive, absolutely no consistancy. One second you're doing Immelmans, the next you're stuck in a turn and can't pull out fast enough. There is no rudder control, and using the "roll" controls didn't seem to work for me.

Maybe it plays better with a gamepad since it is a console port; but dear god...if you don't like to constantly get frustrated by ♥♥♥♥♥♥ camera angles and piss-poor controls then avoid at all costs.

The controls are my only real complaint in this otherwise fun and addicting game; I'd only recommend when it's on a steep sale and you have some extra patience.

I somehow missed this series when it first released, so this was the first Red Faction game I played. There's definitely hours of fun to be had; with the variety of missions and free-form aspect of the game.

The game prides itself on insanely detailed destruction physics; where EVERY building/structure can be dismantled bit-by-bit.
Having all this destruction actually can change/modify your gameplay style (i.e. toppling a building on top of an enemy squad to get multiple kills). It opens up a whole other element that most shooters don't give (except maybe with BF1/Crysis, but still not to this scale IMO). The levels have good virety in terrain/layout, and there's a good variety of weapons (but you can only carry 3 at one time, so no RAMBO).

Towards the end, the game started to get a little stale for me; and some of the missions were incredibly difficult to accomplish. I remember a few that took me >5 retries to accomplish (which is ok a few times, but after ~2 hrs on the same mission it starts getting old).

I tried MP but it was pretty much dead, so I never got into it. I did have some minor bugs/glitches, but nothing that killed my experience; better than most AAA titles released today.

I'm recommending because I still got many hours of enjoyment for 5-10 bucks, it still has some original gameplay/content, even today. If you like 3rd person action shooters you can't go wrong!

Out of the 20-something early access games I own, this has by far been the best. There's constant progress and development; not just feature-creep and pointless additions like soooo many other ea titles.

It also has coop that fits perfect in this type and style of game.

If you enjoy anything about the genre, you can't go wrong with this game IMO.

LiS is a very good episodic adventure game where certain decisions determine how the story will play out. The voice acting, story, and environment are all AAA quality IMO, with hundreds of lines of dialog that can change depending on what decisions you've made (this also adds to replay value).

Absolutely worth $20 for the entire 5 episodes, especially if you like these types of story-rich games

When I bought H1Z1 in 2014, it was an MMO survival game. Once SOE was disolved and Daybreak Games took over in 2015, they split the game in two: Survival, and Battle Royal. But once they found they could milk money with microtransactions, they pulled a classic "Bait and Switch"; completely abandoning the original concept they sold us on. They almost entirely shifted their focus from Survival to BR; and then use our money for an "eSports" marketing scam to make some extra coin from the hype.

Four plus years later, the Survive mode that they sold us on was completely abandoned; and the BR mode is now F2P because much better options came out before they attempted to fix their game(s).

DO NOT give these scam developers more money, they will NEVER fix their game. Both SOE and Daybreak have only lied to\misled their customers since the beginning.

There's plenty of other options out there for both BR and survival, don't waste your time or money on this trash.

edit: So they've finally made it F2P BR game that nobody plays, and changed the name AGAIN ...good job devs! You literally drove in reverse down the 'road to success'. What a scam

Not really sure why this has recieved good revews (I'm assuming because it's so cheap). The plot/twist is paper thin, and simply has you do pointless and meaningless tasks for the first 1.5 hours; so they can just do a complete 180 with the story.

There was no suspense, relying solely on completely dark areas with cliche "creepy" sound effects, but showing you absolutely nothing. At one point they even add the "Psycho"-esque violin, as if it's building up to some kind of event; but then fades out and you just carry on with absolutely nothing happening and it was completely pointless.

There is no sense of urgency, as everything is 100% scripted (so no replay value). The game relies on the player getting lost and having to backtrack the same areas several times just to drag the playtime out.

It's a very mediocre game, skip unless you just need a reason to kill ~2hrs

Spoiler alert:

It's all just a simulation to test your abilities for some super-secret government project by throwing random, pointless, puzzles at you. Once you find this out at the end, you die in a hospital bed with nothing else being explained.
The end

The game itself seems OK, but since I (or my friends) can't get more than 20fps w/o turning everything to 2005 gfx standards, we've given up until they fixed the optimization.

But, instead of fixing the horrid performance issues and bugs, they focused on the KOTH and console versions. Then have the balls to release paid DLC that can be carried over into the base game in classic P2W style.

At the very least, don't buy this game until it's released; it's become a "feature creep" while they bleed their customers.

Don't be fooled by these shysters

edit: I should clarify that the DLC is not technically P2W, as there's very few dino's that can be tamed in the DLC, and the Wyverns sound almost impossible to tame/keep alive; so there's very slim odds of actually seeing one in the base game.

An excellent HL2 mod that adds some cool levels and keeps the action flowing, with an excellent soundtrack to boot.

Thanks to the author(s) for your dedication !
