Bf and I dated 5 years. I have mentioned of when we do finally get engaged I do want a meaningful proposal like something meaningful and romantic. For some reason he decided that meant proposing to me after he creampied inside me

We had just finished having sex I went up to wipe myself and when I came back from the bathroom he was turned around (we’re both butt naked) and he turns my way (in front of me) he has a fake gem stone tapped around his penis (it’s a $5 gem stone it’s not a ring, it’s just a fake stone). He got down on one knee and started proposing and telling me how much he loves me he probably spoke for about less than a minute before I started crying (not out of happiness out of sadness) he noticed that and he asked me what’s wrong and I told him exactly what’s wrong and how he just did all of this so wrong

This is not the proposal I wanted. Whenever someone asks me how my husband proposed to me (my future kids, my parents, my family, friends, etc) how he proposed to me butt naked after sex and tapped a fake gem on his penis and that’s how he asked me to marry him

I thought he was going to take me back to our college campus where we met on the center of the field or maybe propose at our first restaurant we had our first date at or maybe a fun activity

He apologized for behaving this way but he thinks I should have just accepted the proposal for how he asked because most people accept “crazy” weird out of the norm proposals. I’m not expecting anything crazy. I think he was trying to say women are expecting far less nowadays like ring pops and lazy proposals like just over the phone proposals and just chilling on the couch watching Netflix and he just drops the “will you marry me” while you guys are just watching a movie and he’s trying to say every other women is okay with settling for that… but that’s just not me sorry…I just want a good memory, something more thought out and meaningful….like of the few simple examples I gave

It’s also the fact that we decided to save a lot of money by not doing a wedding and just go to the courthouse. Parties aren’t really our thing. We did a budget estimate and we do have disposable income and inside of the wedding I would like to use some of that money we were going to use for the wedding for our engagement/wedding rings since the rings are more important than a 1 day party as we are going to be wearing our rings everyday. I was confused because he didn’t even propose with a proper engagement ring. He said he was just gonna let me order my own ring and we could just keep this fake gem as a ♥♥♥♥♥ and giggles

I asked him to try proposing again in a meaningful way and I’m expecting a second attempt sometime this month and I’m nervous about this one too
