Don't normally review games, but I purchased this after seeing the developers had released a major update that addresses the previous criticisms. So far it seems great, so give it a chance because the older negative reviews are based on a much older version.

This game is simply stunning and should be played at least once by everyone.

An adorable game from start to finish. Would highly recommend for anyone that just wants to relax with a charming exploration game with minimal puzzles. One of the few games where I've just been able to feel at total ease while playing.

This is a game that I would love to give a positive review for having greatly enjoyed the previous two games. Unfortunately, I realized that I was just slogging through the game rather than enjoying it due to changes the developers made compared to the prior games.

Most of the progression in the game is locked behind level caps for your various skills. In the prior games, you would always be able to find a route to progress, or find something you had previously missed. In Hero of the Kingdom 3, you will often hit blocks where you simply have to go back and grind for level ups before you can continue. Worse still, it seems like there is a random roll for whether you level up or not after completing an action. And lastly, you aren't even guaranteed to find the actions you need to level up, because you have to grind other actions and hope that ones you need randomly respawn.

Over half of the time spent "playing" the game is actually spent backtracking and grinding. After two successful prior games, I cannot believe how the developers could think that this is a fun mechanic. Did they even play their game to completion during development? It's just not a fun experience.
