Overwatch 2 started off as a free public beta, with one new hero, Sojourn, and it was an absolute blast! Felt like a more refined Overwatch 1 with a lot of good balance changes, like less stuns for heroes. This beta ended and beta 2 happened a little bit later but this time with Junker Queen being playable and had all of the new designs for all of the heroes, and most looked absolutely amazing, and beta 2 was better than beta 1, the game then released but it was an absolute disaster, they over promised on things like PVE, new content, new heroes, new modes all of this new stuff but ended up only delivering on one of them, which was new heroes and the very rare new map. For 8 seasons the game got barely anything, only a new hero every other season, and these heroes just kind of blended in and weren't really anything of note and they just gave up on the story. Blizzard went silent and started making skins for only 4 heroes to squeeze their player base of their money, TLDR; it was an absolute disaster from release, to Season 20. Also Marvel Rivals came out, and all Blizzard did was a discounted shop with 5 items you most likely didn't want.

But then the Overwatch spotlight happened on the 4th of Feb 2026 and Blizzard announced they were ditching Overwatch 2, and going back to just Overwatch, they announced 4 new heroes, mythic skins, reworks, a full cinematic like in the old Overwatch 1 days, new maps and future plans, and it all seemed good but a lot of people were a bit sceptical still due to Overwatch 2's launch.

Overwatch then soft re-launched and was an absolute blast, Blizzard followed up with all of their promises for this relaunch with "Reign of Talon", the player numbers hit an all time high and the game finally ended up being a worthy competitor to Marvel Rivals finally. They also made their monetization method far more free to play friendly by greatly updating loot boxes, you get more, and they added almost 20 seasons worth of shop cosmetics to them that you can get for free. We're currently in Season 2 summit, and the game keeps getting better and better. Blizzard have proven that they still really care for Overwatch. They care about story again, and making fun, interesting and memorable characters again, they even heard complaints about a new hero Anran's face model looking the same as another hero and nothing like how she looks in the comics she was featured in, and they took the time to re-do her face so she looks just like how she did in the comics. Currently every season a new hero is due to come out and so far we've had one new hero which is Sierra.

I highly recommend Overwatch if you're into competitive shooters, some of the most fun you can have online, and there's a hero that'll fit anyone's play style. (But the best hero is Junker Queen)

Early access was before 2.0 like fr lol
Even back then I had a blast with the game, it had it's problems, a LOT of problems, but CDPR have done an amazing comeback, the best redemption arc of a game I've ever seen.

Pros:
The game is gorgeous
The combat is fun
The redesigned perk tree is easy to understand and gives you a lot of freedom
The customisation is great
The ost is a major banger
The weapons are great
The story is amazing and well written
The characters are so memorable
Cyberware adds so much depth to your combat and exploration
The map is a great size with a lot to explore

Cons:
The game still has some visual bugs, not many but it does happen
Vehicle controls are still a bit iffy but far better than before
First person animations (excluding arms) are super, super weird, they straight up look bad
You gotta have a real beefy pc to run the game above medium, but welcome to next gen gaming lol

Extra:
The recent 2.0 update changed the game in all the right places, Cyberware and clothing is a huge upgrade compared to how it was, clothing is almost purely cosmetic with some exceptions, and Cyberware are your real upgrades as it should've been from day 1, I also enjoy the limitations of Cyberware, fits in with the lore (Cyberphycosis). Another thing is the redesigned perk trees, it's much simpler, straight forward and far better than what we had before which was over complicated and didn't really do much.

I couldn't recommend this game more if you're into story driven open world games, it's been my favourite game for years now and I love it to death.

Late September 2024 update: I haven't seen a single bot or obvious cheater since June, Valve seems to be keeping on top of the botting crisis for the moment, but they have regained my faith (For now).

This is one of the best shooter games you can ever play, as they said when the game went free to play 13 years ago "The most fun you can have online"

I have a couple of hours on the game, and can say with full confidence, this game will never get boring to me, it's the most re playable shooter I've ever played. The game is turning 18 in October 2025 which is insane, and it's still going, may not get any official content from Valve anymore, but the game still gets bug fixes, quality of life changes / fixes, new maps and new cosmetics. Much as I would LOVE for this game to get content updates once again, it can live without content updates, and the game has proven that due to it being over 2,500 days (Almost 7 years) without a meaningful content update (Jungle Inferno), the game still gets 3 yearly seasonal updates which is Summer, Scream Fortress (Halloween), and Smissmas (Christmas), they all bring cosmetics and maps.

One big thing, don't buy from the mannco store, it's stupidly overpriced, the prices have never been changed in the over 10 years of the item shop existing

Anyways, the most fun you can have online for free as Valve said years ago, highly recommend the game.
