*NOTE - I am NOT a fan of MMOs personally, so don't take my word if you're specifically looking for a good MMO for long time players of the genre*

TLDR; I instantly fell in love with this game as a returning fan to the franchise - the world is phenomenal to explore, the soundtrack is pure ART and the main story, which is entirely solo-able, was very fun. The game gets constant DLC updates and there are many in-game events every year. Grab it on sale and you should enjoy the heck out of ESO, particularly if you're a fan of The Elder Scrolls.

Pros;
-Graphically beautiful and hugely vast game world
-Phenomenal soundtrack that genuinely adds to the experience as a whole
-Easy and intuitive gameplay that's easy to learn and get used to
-ENDLESS HOURS of content (I have well over 1000, oops)
-Expands on The Elder Scrolls deep lore
-Constant updates and in-game events

Cons;
-Lots of (very good) content locked behind DLCs
-Some bugs persist (Although the game is far better than it used to be in that regard)
-That's legit all I can think of...

As a non-MMO player, with no interest in the genre personally, I was sceptical of ESO for years after it's release, despite being a huge fan of The Elder Scrolls in general and Bethesda properties as a whole. However, December 2020 I had finished Oblivion and Skyrim and wanted more from the IP without going back to Morrowind's clunky gameplay. So I finally caved and decided to try ESO. I was absolutely shocked. This game I'd unfairly shunned for years and ignored due to it being an MMO quickly became, probably, my favourite game, period. Being able to explore almost all of an ever-growing Tamriel (and beyond) completely blew my mind. Exploring the world really did enchant me. The story was really fun to solo my way through before getting stuck into the end-game grind, which I also enjoyed. Gameplay, in my mind, is very intuitive and for a non-MMO player was very easy to learn and get used to. Graphically, for an MMO, Tamriel is stunning, day and night. The bonus paid content never forces itself on you, nor is any of it necessary to progress or complete the main story, which, if I may add, is entirely possible to solo, and is very fun at that.

I'd highly recommend ESO to any fans of The Elder Scrolls who, like me, neglected the game because of it's irregularities from the main games. Even if MMO gameplay really isn't your thing, if you love the lore of these games as much as I did, exploring Tamriel and seeing familiar and new lands really is something special. The game get's lots of love too, with constant DLC updates and in-game events.

Give it a go - particularly if there's a sale on! If you're anything like me, you certainly won't regret it! :)

If you loved the original DOOM, get this game. Has to be considered one of the best modern shooters and really is an example of what a good FPS should be like. Excellent.
