5 dl water
1 pss dry yeast (or 50 g fresh yeast)
1 tbsp sugar or syrup
1 tl salt
50 g butter or margarine or 1/2 dl of oil
12 dl flour

1. Heat the water
2. Mix in sugar/syrup and salt. You can also add spices or herbs, e.g. basil.
3. Mix together part of the flour and dry yeast and add to the previous ones.
4. Add the rest of the flour to the dough gradually and add oil at the end of the preparation. As flour, you can use wheat flour, yeast bread flour, bread roll flour, rye flour or something else, and I often sprinkle bran, seeds, grated cheese, grated carrot or whatever I happen to find in the cupboard. Mashed potatoes or mashed potato flour are also good in the dough.
5. Raise the dough to double under a cloth and roll into rolls, bread or baguettes. Lubricate with milk, water, oil, coffee or something else.
6. Bake the rolls at 220 degrees for about 15 minutes, the bread at a slightly lower heat for longer. I especially like to wrap baguettes or bread in a damp cloth after baking, so that the crust remains soft.
