Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is a spine ripping hack 'n slash that will test the limits of your reaction time and attention-span.
You play as Raiden, a former child soldier turned cybernetic monstrosity with a thick dumper a strong will, stronger arms and an even stronger sense of justice. With blade in hand and psychotic tendencies and a team of professionals supporting him, he mercilessly cuts down those who would take advantage of the weak.
...
Nope. Can't write that down with a straight face. Let's cut the ♥♥♥♥.
This game is a psychotic breakdown and the events that led up to it masqueraded as your saturday morning action game. Raiden is a walking blender that turns cyborgs into spare parts and quickly increases the demand for janitors globally as he rampages through the streets of a handful of cities in a handful of countries.

His enemies, the grunts and bosses, are morally complex villains with interesting backstories that adds some additional shades of gray to this tapestry of spilled entrails and political scheming. I really enjoyed how each of them saw something in Raiden that they can relate to.
The gameplay is fast-paced and incredibly bloody, as it relies on you, the player, having the will to bisect your opponents at least once so you can heal, which you will inevitably have to since you're more often than not outnumbered five to one and can't possibly pay attention to everything all at once at all times.
As for the story itself, it's slightly more silly than previous Metal Gear titles. A politician who believes that being mighty makes you righty and his complex goons with their own quirks is very compelling, while the main character has so much baggage that he could look at a DSM and call it a checklist. The supporting characters are interesting (Doktor being unintentionally creepy sometimes got a laugh out of me) and the events that led up to Raiden slaughtering his way through each level were well written.

My only complaint is that the base game is short, but I can cope by viewing it as an experience rather than just a game.
It's at the very end of the Metal Gear timeline so people can either hold on to, or vehemently reject, the notion that MGR is canon to the Kojima-verse.
I don't much care for the debate, but I have yet to see debate-threads devolve into yelling contests of racial slurs and homophobic statements, so it can't be that interesting.

8/10, it would be higher if Senator Armstrong's ass wasn't so criminally flat

Hades, the game, follows the young and eccentric prince Zagreus as he battles his way out of Hades, the realm, in a dogged show of defiance against his lord and father Hades, the King of the Underworld or more commonly known as the God of the Dead. Having been trained by Achilles himself upon his lord's request, to give the young prince some kind of direction in his unlife, Zagreus is more than capable of battling the wretches of his father's realm and the guardians who are tasked with containing them for eternity. At his disposal are the infernal weapons that lord Hades himself once wielded against the titans in a war fought long and hard, during a time when he still felt kinship with his brothers Zeus and Poseidon.
To achieve the impossible, battling his way out of hell itself, Zagreus is assisted by his distant relatives on mount Olympus. The gods of Olympus has taken keen interest in their distant relative's plight and has thus vowed to assist him in whatever way they can: Artemis with her huntress' instincts, stallwart Athena and the butcherer Ares with their knowlege of war, mighty Zeus and Poseidon with their near earthshaking powers and so on.

The combat is fast paced and varies widely depending on which boons you choose, the chambers of the underworld change constantly, ensuring that no two escape attempts are alike. Although the game focuses more on combat, it still has a captivating story that unfolds as you battle your way further and further up through Lord Hades domain.

One last note: This game, as you get further up the underworld, will get increasingly harder. If you, like me, can only take so much of Theseus and Asterius lording their UNFAIR PLATONIC PARTNERSHIP OF SPEAR, SHIELD AND BIG ♥♥♥♥-OFF AXE then Godmode is there to help you. As you die over and over again, you slowly gain resistance to all kinds of damage. It is helpful enough if you want to just experience the story and slow enough to make you doubt wheter it's the resistance that's helping or if you're getting better.
There's no shame in using it, because I do it and will continue doing it until I can with certainty confirm wheter Hades is a bottom or not.
10/10, I love getting under Theseus skin.

Scroll further down for spoilers and a ton of gushing over ♥♥♥♥ I find both awesome and hilarious in equal measure.

* I can NOT get over how well the voice acting was done and how well the characters were written. Hades being this Brutal Beurocrat who's just so done with HIS SON BREAKING ALL HIS ♥♥♥♥ . The Furies ranging from level-headed to ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mental was one I did not expect, but I will not complain about it. Then there's the others, like Theseus being written to get under your skin and Asterius being written like the more honorable one.

* Elysium, whilst being the ''resting place'' of countless heroes of war and great champions, is all but restfull.
Do you like archers?
Great!
Fantastic!
Because here's about five of them in the same chamber, all juiced up on armor soup, with atleast five more in the back waiting for their time to shine! If you've been a good boy you'll even get a wave of exploding chariots as a bonus! (with armor, of course!)
You expect Elysium, this domain of warriors and champions all, to be fair and honorable. But it's quite chaotic.
Something I think kinda works, annoying as it may be.
Most of the souls who ended up there probably died in battle, such as our crestfallen lad Patroclus who's been sitting on his ass for a few hundred years now by the time of Zagreus first escape attempt, so Elysium might reflect that. Warfare, both back then and in modern times, is kinda chaotic on the larger scale. A phalanx-on-phalanx fight might be more controlled because, after all, there's not much a shieldwall can do against another shieldwall. But bring in chariots and skirmishers into the mix and you'll have yourself one fine mess once both sides close in to poke eachothers' eyes out.

* (Edit) I forgot to mention how ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ BEAUTIFULLY ORPHEUS SINGS. Darren Korb sung Orpheus Lament so beautifully I nearly froze the first time I heard it when I got back to the House of Hades.

It has untapped potential and there are things which I personally don't like, like a mimic grabbing you even though you're basically smelling it's asscheeks, like how Elana the Squalid Queen can summon Velstadt (and twice at that if you're unlucky), like how arrows get stuck mid air because the textures doesn't show the actual width of the wall you're taking potshots from.

But it's good, play it, love it, break it or be broken by it.
