pretty good. As a killer and survivor main, it's pretty balanced.

If you are getting into the game as a solo survivor, I HEAVILY recommend using the perk "kindred". It lets you know where your teammates are while someone is hooked, and shows teammates where each other are if you are hooked. This perk cancels so many of those moments where you die on first hook because no one got you off of it. Your other survivors know who is going for saves thanks to it.

As a beginning killer, I recommend sloppy butcher. It makes survivors bleed more and have to heal for longer when they get hit. The long heals can help games not go by as fast if the survivors are paranoid of you and want to heal. Plus, the increased bleeding helps newer players whose ears are not use to finding survivors via grunting, to find them and to stick to the chase easier, due to the blood sometimes being easier to see at times compared to scratch marks.

Anyone can be good at this game with enough practice. You will hate/love this game
