As far as the overall game, it's great, though it's a bit of an acquired taste. It's fun, historical, has plenty of extra content (Operation Barbarossa), and can be played over and over again. I highly recommend it, especially as a history buff for World War 2. However, I'm writing this review about Ardennes Assault, which I would not recommend at all. It's in no way whatsoever worth the $40. I get that it was going for realism in how you had limited company strength and all, but it's a video-game, not real life. It becomes too realistic and thus highly frustrating. To name an example: You send a squad of riflemen forward, only for them to run into a half-track, get pinned in two seconds, and die. Then that voice, the worst, most annoying sound I've ever heard in a video-game, come on. "We just lost an infantry unit. They got wiped out." Oh my god, I HATE that guy. Every single time you slip up and an unit gets killed, this bastard makes this ridiculous, irritating remark. I'm like: "Who are you to talk? I'm out here commanding troops with their lives and the objective on my mind, and you're just sitting back doing nothing except giving some line every time a squad is killed! Would you like to take over for me?" It's like the game is lecturing you, or maybe egging you on. The game seems to be saying this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Oy6DwHAi70
So, if you like a game that's frustrating, annoying, stressful, and for all your trouble, not even rewarding in the slightest, I highly recommend Ardennes Assault. Of course, if you're like me, you shouldn't even consider wasting your money on this garbage.
