Glad it's back, if you're a fan of the third game it's essentially a new entry into that style of the game. There's a little bit of 2 sprinkled in there in the form of parking garages so you can interact with the racers and challenge them but it's really enjoyable despite it being in early access

Ai slop and they can't even promise their long time talent they won't outsource their famous VAs that they won't use their voices for AI. Also Fortnitification is in full swing now that it's been out for over a few months, can't wait to see more cringe and ironic skins here.

Only bought for zombies experience that's pretty good, similar to cold war zombies

Multiplayer is a mess and with one good match you'd be put in the unemployed lobbies thanks to skill based match making with the unique mechanic of skill based damage to make sure you're doing terrible.

Activision finally found a way to use AI so they can get away with paying artists and refusing to protect their voice acting talent. The AI work is blatantly obvious and poor too as most humans don't have 6 fingers (it's like they don't even double check anything)

I'm gonna begin with the big thing that's bothered me since launch, why tf did they paywall legendary and hard difficulty!? That alone is an unnecessary detriment to the game's experience as the prior games had them right off the bat.

Pros:
- The dungeon is extremely fun if you're craving more at the endgame and wish to fight some of the former bosses you fought in the story
- The cosplay outfits are pretty nice and the simple gold swimsuits
- You get some pretty OP partners in Sujimon in the form of your party members
- Dondoko island gets more high tier visitors so it's better money in the endgame
- The CDs you get in this game are better than in 7 due to being able to listen in anywhere in the overworld

Cons:
- The Dungeon Dialogue is extremely off, most if not all party members act out of character like joongi han being treated like a pushover to everyone and the DLC forgetting that Zhao is a great chef
-You can't use party members for the sujimancer class nor dondoko island's farm so the party members are only good for wiping the sujimon minigame specifically
- Achievements cannot be 100% unless you have this DLC
- Newgame + is paywalled and you cannot change difficulty at all until you beat the game once, so if you want to play on hard or legendary for your first experience you have to get a save or a mod for it.
- DO NOTE the 2 seperate DLC jobs are not included in this when it really feels like it should've

This game is a modern and also retro version of an oldie tokyo xtreme racer, specifically 3 and 2 and damn does it make me happy to see something with similar themes and gameplay elements.

This one's gonna be the longest review i've ever written so let's begin with the pros and get that out of the way:

PROS:

-The game is getting updated now that the team is no longer split and more "frequent" balance patches averaging twice per season
-The audio design is still something to note as it's easier to notify what ability is being used so you can act on it
-The community has a hardcore porn scene and foot fetish if you're into that

That's all i can say as most of the pros have slowly faded away sadly

CONS:

Story
The game has not been known for its brilliant story back in overwatch 1 but it had some semblance of one but acti-blizzard is not known for consistent a consistent story when it came to overwatch's lore

-More often than not any sort of world building the community can create will be squashed by blizzard simply saying "nuh uh actually" and layer another shallow character above another with another lost opportunity of world building.
  • People used to think their squeaky clean mercy was actually somehow secretly a risky doctor whose practices may have had horrible side effects with her operations with reaper. Nope she's just a perfect character who likes cake and the one that did all that horrible stuff and testing was actually moira our disney supervillain who's anything but morally good!
  • Soldier 76 was known as that classic call of duty character who's a rebel fighting for his own sense of justice at the cost of his own safety who left behind his own family. Sorry man due to a controversy we're going to fabricate our own "controversy" by making him gay and layered on a poor retcon making him gay after 3 years of established story, here's your representation fellow gays sorry about that dishonorable hong kong mention china!
  • Characters like sigma are slept on with insane and complex characters but they were considered in poor taste as they were seen as malicious towards people with mental illnesses which was the point of sigma, he was an ill man being taken advantage of by an evil organization! So they toned him down and just made him an elder care patient who's just not all there
  • Every character who could've made a cool concept via the story hasn't had anything built upon their story since their own launch.
  • The newer characters just seem too smug and perfect, souljourn and kiriko seem to be ham fisted into the lore and feel like "Original characters donut steel" and can't have any flaws besides "lmao i like pastries too much tee hee", at least junker queen has some more in depth flaws and some more well thought out trauma if that one short cinematic counts.

Overall the story is constantly changing to either add a unique concept on the surface and forget about it or use lgbt characters to hide from criticism and can call their critics homophobic.

Gameplay

  • The gameplay is pretty clean however since overwatch 2 came around things have gotten increasingly buggier despite having their full team on the game, some chock it up to the lack of playtesting and rushed development.
  • In the event the community finds cool tech or glitches that raise the skill ceiling of the players the balancing team immediately removes it as they strictly want you to play the way they intended you to play with no straying from the path so there's 1 or 2 ways to play a character (i.e look at old genji techs for example)
  • Matchmaking has always been a mess in this type of game you might get paired with a thrower, smurf, or just the average toxic player because they can't work with you. You don't have a choice with your team and you don't see the person again due to the lack of a rematch or staying in the same server as the teams.
  • The one thing everyone has spoken about so it doesn't need much of an introduction, the team throwing out the pve up half baked or rather ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ raw instead of promising us the pve will come later with all the intended features as they were shown to have it fully created. Don't pay for that half assed pve it will be as good as the prior pve missions where you play it twice and the magic and fun is gone.
  • New gamemodes are only based around skins they're made as a lackluster showcase to sell you on the skins that half won't even be in the paid battlepass, you have to pay and find them in the "Rotational store"
  • Forced 50/50 win loss rate whether true or not most the community believes it due to the matchmaking for competitive players, you do well so they pair you up with players who have significantly better coordination and mechanical skill and you lose because you can't keep up. You then are plopped into a competitive match where your team doesn't know how to press mouse 1. Even players who've been used to this gameplay loop even today still believe in "elo hell" where you'll always lose more than win despite their efforts.
  • They're also too afraid to balance characters that have been oppressive for weeks if not months. Souljourn was constantly getting damage boosted due to her ability to one shot kill 75% of the cast with her abilities and they refuse to remove her headshot multiplier with it and instead nerf poor mercy again. Some theorize it's to keep sales up on bundles and battlepasses because she's on it.
  • New characters in this game came with so far bloated kits that they seem like 3 characters in one compared to old boy mcree who just has gun like kiriko who can do everything at once deal crazy damage (albeit skill based so that's positive), cleanse every debuff, some minor cc (in the form of suzu knockback but it's lackluster), and provide healing, provide the best buffs speed and fire rate increase, wall climb, teleport, small hitbox. Souljourn has a kit that does everything at once, insane damage at long and close range, a get out of jail free ability which is the best in the game for dps class and an annoyingly small hitbox. Ramattra albeit a cool guy but he has the biggest set of abilities in the game if they haven't toppled his record with a newer character by now.
  • So much visual clutter that you'll have a better understanding of moon runes than what is happening during team fights.
  • They remove so much content to combat toxicity when the gameplay is so aggravating in the first place but hey at least you can't spam voice lines, sprays, text chat, voice chat anymore!
  • New characters voice directions are always too smug nowadays besides lifeweaver for some reason you just hate hearing them.

The gameplay loop of this game is too brutally frustrating for the players and it's one of the sole reasons why players are the most toxic in gaming despite their sole duty to prevent it.

Monetization

  • The battlepass was forced on us after acti-blizzard couldn't exploit lootboxes due to lawmakers cracking down on it they settled with a battlepass to exploit their players more while also giving players a disadvantage for not buying it!
  • The battlepass typically has items that most players don't want, who gives a ♥♥♥♥ about souvenirs, sprays, nametag banners and icons when they just want skins and the new character that is locked behind a battlepass!
  • Players won't get access to the new character until they hit tier 30 (if they finally move it to be easier or stopped doing that entirely)
  • The content in the battlepass is also the classic "Fear Of Missing Out" or FOMO for short where if you don't complete the battlepass the content inside it will never come back so the players psychologically would be pressured to invest their time and effort to finish
  • F2P users can barely earn anything now that free lootboxes upon levels are gone, you gotta pay 15$ for that one skin you wanted!

Pretty solid for an arcade experience with friends, gun play is fun although some guns are tough to balance like how powerful the shotgun is atm and the need to have a good trigger finger for the boira pistols. The card mechanics are really great for varying the gameplay and it's elevated if you can combo with your teammates their character's abilities. The maps have enough gimmicks that pose some challenges when you're trying to win firefights but it just sucks we can't select both of the nuke maps in the private lobbies without the nuke card.

Ps- Theater is an annoying map you will lose friendships if you are caught choosing that map
