I'm fairly new to The Binding of Isaac. I purchased Rebirth in March of 2016, and it was my first time playing any Isaac game. I bought Afterbirth not soon after, and I totally fell in love with it. This past summer, I dumped over 100 hours into it. When Afterbirth Plus came out, I knew I would buy it immediately. I was super hyped for it. The new items, such as the Void, sounded super cool, and of course the mod support was extremely exciting. I got it and, well, I was a little disappointed. I still had fun and I still enjoy it, but I still think this is disappointing.

First off, the cons of AB+
I love a good challenge, and I think a lot of other Isaac players can say the same. Ed picked up on this, and added characters such as The Lost and The Keeper, and bosses like The Haunt and The Bloat. But in this addition, I think he took the "challenge" too far. There are times where you have just started a run, you walk into one of the first rooms with base stats and items, and you get swarmed by sometimes DOZENS of enemies due to the portals constantly spawning them. That would be fine if the portals weren't in every other room. The new bosses are a bit buggy (which I expected), and have WAY too much HP, and no real visual cues as to when they are going to attack.

Now, the pros
There are a lot of creative items. A lot of other reviews seemed to be disappointed with them, and I can agree with them with some of the items. However, the items feel like they belong in an Isaac game. The new character, as well as the new challenges, are unlocked from the start. I appreciated this because I got to experience some of the new items without looking through item rooms, chests, or shops. Greedier mode, which is a hard version of Greed mode, is on the right path. It needs some tweaking, but it has the right idea. Also, you can now display your actual stats without the use of a mod! Look for the "Found Hud" option in the options menu. Now, onto the mod support. People are already making some creative mods that add some much needed content to this somewhat decent DLC. The best part is that the best mods of each month will be permanently added into the game! Finally, Ed has already said that some of the things listed in this review will be patched (Portal %s, HP %s, visual tells, etc.).

So, many people can agree that this DLC seems rushed and disappointing. There are a lot of things wrong with this DLC, but there is some right in there. I see this addon as sort of a blank canvas. TBOI team has given us something that, in time, we can make our own. They are letting the players decide what this DLC will be like. In a few months, once the kinks are patched out and more content has been added, AB+ will be a great addon to Rebirth. I still think it is worth the buy even now, especially since it is discounted for people who already own Afterbirth. I still love AB+, despite the flaws, and I think it is worth a try.
