This game is a tiny masterpiece. Building on FTL's premise, it expanded on game mechanics with engaging battles and ship management (including weapons, fleet, crew and additional systems), added more environmental interactions and planet exploration missions making the in-game world more vivid and complex. Then it has astoundingly beautiful and dynamic pixel art graphics and an absolute banger of a soundtrack.
And then there's the story - in my eyes the best part of it all with plenty of characters and a captivating main arc leading to a truly epic conclusion with some of my very frvourite lines in the sci-fi genre delivered at the very end.
I highly recommend this title to anyone, from the bottom of my heart.

I've sank into the game like a stone. It's super fun, versatile, replayable as heck and constantly makes you think what kind of deck can you build. The there's an expanded late game and unlocks to add more to the mix. Moreover there's a possibility of making a customized challenge (with up to 3 modifications, either good, bad or neutral) AND a daily challenge run.
If you're into card games and/or roguelikes, this is a game for you.

Despite having touble launching the game on my old PC, I can honestly say it is everything a Souls game has to offer and more.
It is, without a doubt, From Software's magnum opus with astounding and beautiful open world, intense combat plathera of characters and items and, once again. rich lore for one to slowly uncover from pieces gathered together as one explore's the Lands Between.
As for the gameplay, there are huge improvements to ranged combat including magic and (much to my surprise) bows, interchangebale weapon arts are add much needed variety, the fashion game is still as strong as ever and last but not least - mount gives another layer to it all when it comes to traversing the world and facing foes, especially the bigger ones.
All in all, it is an amazing game, one I am sure to be playing for years to come and would recommend it to anyone.

It is the OG Puzzle Quest reborn and anhanced!

If you remember the fun, innovative and amazing game that was "Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords" and find yourself yearning for more of that experience - look no further. Gmes of War is the spirit of the original game reincarnated with same rules, tactics and tricks, but in a slighly different form. One can clearly see that it was designed to be mobile game thus introduction of in-game purchasing system, spells being changed into allies, which you unlock either in time or with cash, addition of other gamemodes, PvP and guilds. Is it bad though? Honestly, as much as I'd want to hate it, it's just fine and the game grants great single player experience with multiple mini-campaigns awaiting in each location scattered troughout the land of Krystara - each having 27 quests that lead to unlocking a new hero class. Allies come in form of cards, each having their tribe and type, attack and HP value alongside unique spell and up to 2 mana colors assigned. They can be further levelled up to a certain limit, infused with multiple copies of the card and granted passive skills - all in effort to create a perfect 4-piece deathsquad. What is also cool is that the ingame vip currency comes with rewards for various events and minigames. THe latter come in a few variations - there is even the Arena which is an equivalent of classic CCG draft mode - and sure is loads of fun, I tell ya! On the down sides, apart for obvious money-drain of a mobile game form, it is a bit of a grinder for a casual player, the story is not very compelling and I am still to see the end-game stuff.


And let us not talk about a major failure that was Puzzle Quest 2. Let's skip that and consider Gems of War a worthy sequel.


TL;DR:
+ Good ol' PQ vibe with original game idea, tactics and what have you
+ Variety of available allies, weapons, spells and classes
+ New game modes and events
+ Plenty of new quest lines and locations

- Obviosly a mobile game with "pay for easy mode" aspect
- Lack of dedicated single player storyline
- A bit grindy


All in all, the game is great, honest 8,5/10.

The game is really enjoyable and challenging. The difficulty cap is ultimately set quite high, thus making it replayable as much as it is rewarding for reaching ever further, while, quite admittedly, it may be off-putting at times. It also has great atmosphere with its grotesque style (reminescent of Tim Burton) alongside with gorgeous and fitting art design and plot setting as well as lovely soundtrack. Gameplay is not much different from Isaac and yet feels a bit slower paced, just enough to make it less frustrating. Another good thing is the pre-run upgrade system which gives a little more control of the setting while reducing the RNG factor.
