The Islander is a very charming idle game with quite a bit of potential, which unfortunately most likely won't be utilized further. Don't get me wrong, it is a good game, but it has its own flaws that can be rather severe if you don't prepare for them in advance.

First the good things.
I personally count figuring things out on your own often as a big plus in games like these and The Islander doesn't leave you hanging in that regard. You're just thrown on the island to figure things out and no one is holding your hand in this. The interface has everything you need basically, and as one progresses through the game, it will eventually just click.
The different decoration options are pretty neat and having them actually affect the game play in form of multiplier is pretty neat, and there are things to choose from.
The random island mode also is pretty good, giving you pre-made layout of island that you can plan around to make the most out of it. This mode I could see myself playing more often if things I found the game lacking would get addressed.

Now the ugly...
Unfortunately the lack of any kind of tutorial or hint system can be frustrating to some. The game also doesn't auto-save for you, so if the game happens to crash for any reason, your island goes there and you need to start from the beginning if you didn't save before.
I also wish I was kidding when saying that during the 6 hours I played the game, there were 5 crashes that just shut the game. Thus you need to religiously save your progress.
The regular island mode also leaves a lot to be desired when you are done with expanding the island to its maximum. Thus you really need to plan your layout to get the multiplier to maximum while same time having decent profits coming in. Speaking of the multiplier... the decorations don't really make any difference, they just give as many points as they occupy the amount of space, so four flowers and one four-tile flower are essentially the same thing.
Meanwhile with random island mode, it kinda leaves you wishing that there were bridges you could build, just so you could let your little Islander go over small bodies of water.
Also... you can't get rid of Coco Bots once you buy them as there's no way to just turn them off... and sometimes these same bots just wander off to who knows where, when you have perfectly good resources to be collected. I just eventually ended up turning off the sound effects as everything began to drown under their helicopter sounds, which really just gets old really quick.

While The Islander is good for a short game, I can't really recommend it in its current state. If the previously mentioned problems do not steer you away, do yourself a favor and get the game on sale rather than at full price.

Wasn't overly enthusiastic about this and towards the end. Just basic color-by-number thing, which surprisingly worked with my art tablet without an issue on PC. The coloring in free version becomes quite a bit of drag without the single-time free "power-ups", which essentially would make things much faster to color.

Couple biggest issues that I can tell are just bloating the amount of colors at times (like one certain house having 167 "different" colors), or just picture itself being scaled up to ridiculous dimensions to have as much to color as possible. Another thing are the pictures themselves, which really aren't as much of pixel art, but rather art ran through program to pixelate them and call it pixel art. This is somewhat evident with some stray pixels of single color in entire image, which doesn't make sense for entire thing.

The "difficulty" isn't really... a thing. The "easy, medium, hard" are just flavor text, nor are they all that consistent about it either. What could be considered as their "easy" can sometimes be actually "medium"... while "hard" at times happens to be really "medium". Personally I would have had them classified by their size.

I can give thumbs up for the interface being pretty good though, and the night mode was quite delightful surprise. But lack of filtering for images by "difficulty" or if even if something was even unfinished/not started kinda leaves me yearn more from it.

Overall, don't expect anything awesome. And if for some bizarre reason you want to color more, just wait for DLC's sale. For me, personally, it isn't really worth it even with perks of full version.

The game's basically a jigsaw game, where you go through different locales as you get better with the jigsaws. Casual mode lets you relax, while the normal mode sets you on timer, where you're not allowed even single mistake if you want to have all 3 keys from the level.

The hint system is clear, and if you're in for in-game achievements, is mandatory. The timer, on the other hand, can be rather unforgiving, especially when you don't really get any kind of preview of the mosaic. Unless you go back to level selection every single time.

The music is relaxing and I personally love the different sound effects the locales have. One moment you hear as if you are shifting through cardboard sheets, while next moment you're moving slabs of stone. The images are pretty to look at and somewhat inspiring at times.

Only gripe I do have is sometimes the pieces are easily placed if you guesstimate its location, shifting pretty well to where they are supposed to be, even if you're bit more off and not precisely close... and other times you are very close, but game counts it as bad placement. This inconsistency was rather jarring, sometimes even frustrating when it is last piece you're placing in haste and it just doesn't place itself properly.

Over all, it is somewhat relaxing game, especially if one goes into casual mode to relax. But please get it during sale, it isn't worth the full price tag.

The game is pretty good and I adore all the cute Pals (and being able to pet them is always a plus <3 ). This review is mostly from multiplayer with more advanced things already available to me, though I did want to get basics down before deciding on role in our friend group's team.

The controls took some getting used to, but one manages to pick it up at decent pace.
Building interface could use some improvement, especially with the slanted roofs that one needs to first build down from wall before getting them above the wall. Small things in it could be improved.

The bigger issues for me though are things clipping through different surfaces like rocks and being able to just walk through Breeding Farm... Enemies getting clipped through wall or floor. Or sometimes mount being who knows where upon summoning. Again, small things.

Though something should be done about atrocious catch % rate... some of the pals are frustratingly difficult to attain at times no matter how high tier ball you have, unless you have Ultimate Sphere.

Despite the issues though, I am looking forward to Palworld's future with great interest.

An old classic reborn as 3D remaster... it was hard to believe at first to have childhood game appear once again before me, and I was ready to compare it to the old.

The game's story remained rather faithful to the original, while also adding some more dialogue between stays in the inn to give more depth to the story. The old knowledge on how to proceed truly came in handy as I played the original to the point of console's charger broke. RIP to that really.
Though the biggest disappointment in storytelling is that the characters basically... remained quite expressionless. Sure there were basic expressions, but the delivery of the dialogue compared to the facial expressions didn't quite go hand-in-hand often. Props to Japanese voice acting though!

The graphics are beautiful, adding new details to characters that one sometimes couldn't imagine them to be back in the days of SNES era. I actually had no idea that the mushroom enemies just took off their hat when doing the spore attack! Who knew? But I especially loved details that weren't simply possible for a sprite... one major being Sage Luca's dress. I loved her as a character back then, I adore the 3D model. But biggest reaction graphically was the beloved White Dragon Flammie, whom I had adored since day 1 I saw him... The squeal I made was so high pitched that my boyfriend had to cover his ears... RIP to his hearing at the time, haha!
But I gotta say, the touch of having the SNES version's environments as maps for the remaster was delightful touch for nostalgia's sake.

The gameplay was... interesting to say the least. While I was already familiar with the way combat mechanics worked, I was rather disappointed on how one couldn't adjust AI as effectively as they did in the old game, where there was actual grid system giving many options on aggression or defensive behavior of your companions. But at least they fixed the flaw of having to wait on your AI companions, allowing you to run through areas effortlessly.
But more about the combat... the combat felt more time-consuming. Not gonna say the old one was any better, but in remaster version, charging of the weapon skills became rather pointless due to what felt like higher evasion rate for monsters. And overall felt more floaty than having some actual impact to what you were doing. But I do have to give kudos on making spells relatively less effective in a sense that one cannot chain them as much as they were chainable in original. Personally love this touch, as well as... well... however lightly the difficulty was scaled up for the boss monsters? If it ever was? I don't know honestly.

The music was quite a delight, even with option to listen the original OST instead of the remastered one, even though I don't really have preference over the matter.

I probably remember the game crashing only once for myself... some others might have more experience about this. Though I am rather sad about having only 2 save files in addition of autosave... so the other one is forever occupied to have easy access to cuteness of baby-Flammie in Matango on my behalf.
But overall, I'd say this is somewhat solid remaster, even with its problems.

While there isn't much to the gameplay itself, Save Room is pretty relaxing game with nice little nod to Resident Evil series. The puzzles aren't too difficult and one can just take their time to find the solution.
Personally really satisfying to play as I have been organizing things lately.

This game has been my first entry to Monster Hunter series. At the beginning I was hesitant about buying the game, but after some convincing from boyfriend, I decided to start that journey.
To my surprise (and boyfriend's regret at its peak time), it became one of my favorites, filled with memories and funny moments when playing with friends. And now I'm here, nearly 2k hours in (and I'm still not done!), writing this to get my thoughts out.

While there are only 5 areas to explore in base game, the maps themselves are massive and hiding a lot of secrets to a new player that steps in. One can't help but admire the places filled with life, from going down into depths of Rotten Vale, to climbing highest peak of Coral Highlands, challenging the monsters encountered as more becomes available to the player. With Iceborne there comes additional map to uncover secrets from, and eventually area where almost everything is available to the player. The areas have so much life and detail that I still find things to look at and be "Was that always there? Awesome detail!"

With 14 weapons to choose from, the game accommodates to quite a few types of hunting. You can have Light/Heavy Bowgun and fire from distance. Or have Great Sword for massive damage, finding openings to strike the monster. Or getting really close and personal with the Dual Blades (personal main). Or just take the hits with Lance's shield while poking at the monster. Or rock up the hunt with Hunting Horn and being very useful to others by giving musical buffs. And these are just the few examples. The weapons themselves also carry so much weight to them at times that it is satisfying to land that one massive hit... or watch how that massive hit connects to monster.

The game itself gives players a lot of things to do while building up their gear and exploring places to find not only resources, but also ingredients to the canteen and/or pets to one's own room. The crafting is quite a lot to take in at first, but one eventually learns what they need for their favorite consumables, further helped by farming your own ingredients. There are optional quests that reward different tools, deliveries that help your Canteen or Botanical Research. You can even befriend different tribes from different regions, gaining even more help to your solo hunts. And even further in the game, one can think about going through some fashion hunting for their favorite armors (though majority of this is locked behind Iceborne end game). One never really runs out of stuff to do.
Heck, one can spend an hour just gathering things they need for future hunts, since there is no rush to do anything. This is helped by the fact that the Event quests are now available 24/7, seasonal events coming back every 2 weeks, while raid bosses alternate every 2 weeks.

Now as much as I have sung praises... it's time for sour notes.
The biggest glaring problem with the game is that one cannot skip the cutscenes. No matter if this is your first or 5th character to run through the game, you are watching those cutscenes. Or grab a snack while waiting. The inevitability of these moments makes one not really want to start 3rd character really, when realizing this on 2nd playthrough. And if there happens to be seasonal event going on, your Handler may also look very out of place in them.
On related note, your friends cannot join your hunt before everyone has seen the cutscene, making the practice of "go there just to view cutscene and return" very much time-consuming.

The story, while it is paced well and explains few things, making it logical at times... isn't really much to write to home about. While doing rerun with another character, I've forgotten so many details about the story itself that it is just not funny... and the amount of mashing the button is not making it go any faster in dialogues.
In this relation, to veteran players the Defender/Guardian set is a blessing in disguise. But it can also be unfortunate curse to newer players, who often think "this is very easy" when they speed through the game only to struggle later.

Some mechanics are simply not explained at all. One has to either find out about them, or hopefully have hunter-friend that knows about such things. Or hope that the SOS flare hunter that happens to come around teaches something to you.

The end game... is unfortunately a grindfest, especially if you're seeking to get all the achievements, or getting some of the elusive things to upgrade your gear... without mentioning all the materials for the cosmetics. Some quests may eventually become even boring when trying to farm that one material available only from select few quests. And some hunters... never run out of things to do... or grind materials for different purposes. And in Iceborne, Steamwork is also trivializing certain consumables to point that you have way too many of those... and probably end up selling some to make room for more.

Overall, Monster Hunter World is a solid experience, which one should definitely give a go at least once. However, if this game is going to be your first entry to entire series and haven't tried others, for your own good to learn your weapon and playstyle, avoid the Defender/Guardian set until you feel it is a must against the monster. You don't have to rush anywhere, fellow Fiver. Take your time to learn, experiment and research things. It'll be worth the experience in the long run.

May the Sapphire Star guide you, Fiver!

I heavily recommend playing this first before checking reviews or anything else. No review will be able to really explain how one is going to feel about this in the end... other than their own feelings.

I remember playing this back in 2019... and I replayed it fairly recently again, knowing how it has deep and powerful messages behind it. The writing and visuals are quite well done, music adding to the depth of the story. In a way one can find themselves or someone they know in this one way or another.

Personally, I found myself in it, relating to Coda more or less. But I do understand Davey's point of view as well, even if the methods were questionable at best. But in the end... we will find the lamp posts.

Addictive and fun game, even if at the very beginning it has bit of a slow start in a sense that one starts with just one character. But once one gets up to speed, there is a lot of variety on how one can go about through the maps, making it easy for anyone to find their go-to builds.

On top of it, it isn't very time-consuming game, taking at maximum 30 minutes to play a single round. So this is really good way to just kill small amount of time, yet still advance with the game more or less.
The controls are also very easy, with nothing else needed than movement control and selection button.

Overall, excellent game that is great, fun, and pretty good time killer even for more busy gamer at surprisingly cheap price.

A cute little idle game with really nice pixel-animated critters, which is perfect for those who want to spend just enough time to get things kick-started in the long run. Which is why I urge you to get it while the game is on sale.

The game is basically idle game, but you have to work just enough to get to that point. Technically you will spend time farming money to buy yourself idle time, when your hard-working blue blobs gather the money and experience to you while away from game.
At that point you are going to just pat yourself on your own back and go "well done, you played enough of this to not play the game for x hours".
After this point it will be just farming for money and levels... in order to just replace your farmlands, bushes, trees and animals with better moneymakers as you expand to your garden and buy upgrades. The monotone flow of not doing much.

Gaining the achievements is basically cakewalk, with the only thing keeping you in the game actively for long enough being Loot Hero... but once you have gotten him the 50th time, you're not going to spend time waiting for him again, since idling will just bring you the cash. And idling will eventually bring the other achievements as well.

It isn't really a game for those who look to do something actively. Plantera is just a background project while you play other games basically. But at least for the first few hours, it is great short-lived entertainment. After that you can at the very least incorporate it into your daily life as a small happy place.

At least until you feel you can just throw the game into the category of forgotten games since there isn't much else to do anymore and feel very much done with it.
