After having the played the game just over 200 hours (including mobile hours), I have played through the available content released as of writing. I can only recommend this game.
The main gameplay is a based on a turn based tactical combat system. The narrative and world building of Limbus Company and the Project Moon universe in general is great. Playing the other Project Moon games to understand and play Limbus Company is not necessary. While the events of the other games are referred to a few times in Limbus Company, it is done so without really spoiling those games or leaving someone confused without having played them.

As this is a positive review I will start of with the negative points I can think off first.

Negatives:
  • This is very subjective, but in my opinion the story only really gets great several chapters (or cantos) into the game. That is not to say the early chapters are bad, but I was only hooked dozens of hours into this game.
  • The tutorial is very lacking and you'll likely need to read some guides or watch videos to fully understand the gameplay. The way the tutorial teaches combat, it overemphasises for example skill chaining, while there are a lot more important things to consider that fall short in the tutorials.
  • Eventually the game will require you to grind side content to level up your characters to keep up with story content. The further you progress, the longer the grind will be. This is with the side content of "thread and EXP excavations" being pretty boring and repetitive due to it's grindy nature.
  • Expanding on this, since the game is a gacha after all, playing any levels or grinding anything will require energy which will slowly restore over time. This is not too bad expect for grinding.
  • There are various events that happen that aren't very accessible to new players. If you start playing you'll likely miss out on those that happen just as you're getting into the game.
Positives:
  • Despite the game being a gacha, those gacha core elements are by far not too excruciating. You can play the entire game without spending a single buck on it. You can even unlock almost of the "FOMO" (Fear of Missing Out) content every time without spending real money on it.
  • As mentioned previously the story is amazing so far, even if the journey is not yet complete as of writing this review.
  • The way the game treats its world building and lore is done very well. There are plenty of details that are mentioned in a matter of fact way with just simple comment and no further explanation. The details of the world of Limbus Company aren't shoved down your throat.
  • The gameplay keeps becoming more engaging and tactical as you progress through the game and as more is being written and developed.
  • Besides the main story, various events happen every few weeks or months. They too can be completed without spending any real money on the game, even if that means having to save up some in-game currency prior to such an event.
  • The art style is great. The backdrops of cutscenes / dialogues and loading screens look amazing. And the in-combat sprites remind me of the Darkest Dungeon art style.
  • The musical score of the game is great. There are countless of bosses in the game with amazing OST and even in regular battles there are countless of great tracks. Even bosses solely made for the late game game-mode "Refraction Railways" have some of the best themes.
  • Lastly the voice acting is phenomenal as well. And ties it all together with the well written dialogues and musical setting.

One of the best sus-likes out there. It takes the sus / social deduction genre to an every day office job level. And along with that a lot of ways to roleplay on top of the gameplay itself. There are a bunch of settings you can adjust to your liking to either fine tune small parts of your lobbies or also change up the way the game itself plays out.

It is currently still in development and receiving more updates in the form of more tasks, maps and cosmetics.
Any bugs that happen during the development have also been fixed fast so far.

The one downside I can point out are the apparently planned microtransactions. There is the UI for buying ingame currency for real money, however it's not implemented in the game so far. And all this ingame currency currently does is unlock cosmetics. That same currency can be earned by playing the game. No gameplay elements as of now are locked behind this.

I love getting back from my office job to hop into an office job simulator.

Used to be a fun hardcore-ish WW2.
But in the past months it has gotten worse and worse.

Hell Let Loose used to compete with Post Scriptum for being the best (hardcore) WW2 shooter. But then the Post Scriptum devs ruined their game and abandoned it. Now it seems like Hell Let Loose devs having no more competition are also destroying their game.

The new updates made the game way more arcady with things like increased sprinting speeds. The newly introduced British faction is not well balanced at all and is basically objectively worse than any other faction.

And worst of all the game is buggy as hell and performance took a huge dump. So much so that running at a consistent 60fps won't be possible without a great PC. But even if you have the best hardware out there, nowadays Hell Let Loose has random performance drops in large parts of the map that can last for minutes and drop your performance under 20fps, no matter what you do or what settings you use.

Lastly the devs actually dare to still release more cosmetic DLC while the game is ruined, instead of fixing it.

Until those issues are resolved and Hell Let Loose turns back towards being a more hardcore / realistic shooter, I cannot recommend it.

This is a pretty nice game for every now and then.
It's obviously not as complex or big as for example Graveyard Keeper. But I do not understand the complaints about it being even more grindy than Graveyard Keeper. It is basically a small idle game where you make equipment for your heroes, upgrade them and send them on adventures. However it does not have the annoying idle time you might know from your classic mobile or browser idle games. Everything is done pretty fast in fact.

If you're looking for a nice game on a smaller scale that you can play from time to time, this is definitely it. For its low price and rather simple gameplay it's really good.

I love this little game so far.
It provides a nice atmosphere making for a great safe haven.
