In all honesty, this game isn't all bad. The gunplay is great, it feels smooth, but it all feels pointless at the end of the day. Legendaries fall like rain and you can have a decent build going by just playing through the main story. There's no real reason to do side quests because the dialog just kinda sucks. The dlc however saves the game overall. The stories are much more pleasant, with Krieg's dlc being the best. Genuinely well done story through and through. The main content however truly ain't it.

The Vault Hunters are pretty fun, they feel pretty unique and everyone can be broken in their own special way just like BL2. The only personality that really stands out to me though is FL4K. Hopefully they'll be a bit more fleshed out in BL4, but I'm holding onto my money until that goes on sale. Tyreen and Troy are the epitome of "How do you do fellow kids?" it gets irritating after 5 minutes, and damn near unbearable after a couple hours. Troy became a little interesting before we killed him I guess. Athenas was probably my favorite. Ava sucks but Maya was pretty well written. Sucks she was wasted to give the spotlight to that flea. Traunt came and went and didn't overstay his welcome. Def the highlight of the story. Promethea happened I guess. Rhys wasn't really what I expected him to be after opening a vault. A lot of his character felt like a regression. Zer0 was there at least :D. I like Jakobs, but the rest of the time on Eden-6 is a snoozer fr. Then there was the rest of it. Once you finish the main story and get to max level on a character, it lets you create another character that starts at level 80 in front of the final boss. Unless you wanna play TVHM, at least you're not required to do it more than once. (Says something) TVHM does make combat actually interesting and fairly challenging though, so it has it's merits. Mayhem mode can give you that challenge though, and is honestly nowadays a pretty good feature overall for whatever you're looking for. Interesting and sometimes annoying modifiers depending on how much challenge you want, and the option to turn them off and just have tankier enemies if you wanna. All optional.

If you can get the game with all the dlc for a good deal I'd say go for it. It's been going on sale a lot. I come back from time to time to do a takedown or an arms race run but I'll never do another full playthrough. Can't recommend the base game, but as a package deal it's not terrible. Just gotta wade through the marsh to get to the good stuff underneath, that good stuff however usually comes with an additional paywall so this just ain't it chief. It's not a hard no, but I just can't get past how tough the main story is to get through sometimes, and how boring the overall gameplay loop is with how easy good loot is to find.

If you're worried about the eula, it's pretty much the same as any modern game you play, it's just now is the time people chose to start reading it. Most if not all of it doesn't even really apply to BL2, it's a 13 year old game, and not a single file changed with the eula apart from a different ad popping up on the main menu. I still use mods every time I play the game, and haven't been banned from anything. Nor have any "weird" things started happening on my pc. Gearbox just changed publishers so all their games had to have their eulas updated. There ain't nothing more to it than that. Of all the reasons to be upset at Gearbox this is pretty ridiculous lol.

This game is one of my favorites of all time, but it is flawed. Without certain mods slag becomes a necessity in endgame, and it's just kinda annoying. Doesn't really add much, and I'm glad it's something that's been removed from later titles. Gaige has one endgame build, and it relies on shooting a piano or Hyperion lootbox for a couple minutes to accomplish anything. Also, when the Commander Lilith dlc dropped, if you weren't playing during the period of time you could get it for free, you later became locked out of progressing the Digistruct Peak unless you buy the dlc, because you aren't max level, and can't become max level unless you buy it. You can't play the op levels you already earned either. Huge oversight that is still there to this day. (Crazy that people get more upset over a eula change that has nothing to do with BL2 than this but go off) However you can download older patches of games and get back access to it without Commander Lilith. Look up "How to download old steam patches SteamDB" or something along those lines to learn more about it. The max level increase to level 80 OP10 also made Vermiverous the Invincible impossible to kill without Sal or other insane damage from glitches at max OP level, and made combat in general much more tedious and at times, obnoxiously hard even with a good build. The dlc itself is also mid, and added a bunch of bullet sponges that foreshadowed BL3's ridiculous world drop rates, with the only personally fun boss fight not being redoable (Hector)

With those flaws, I love pretty much everything else about the game. Once you get a Sal build going you become unstoppable, same with Krieg. Axton, while basic, will reward you pretty well for putting time into him, and his explosive Tediore build is very fun to use. Zero feels incredibly satisfying to play well, and Maya's ease of slagging enemies and overall survivability makes mobbing at all levels fluid. And well, Gaige can be effective with Anarchy I guess, and there's that glitch as well where she can zoom across maps and do insane DoT damage, but alas, that is also just stacking reloads at the end of the day. The story, while dated in parts, feels much more compelling to follow than BL3, with some solid jokes all along the way. Nothing feels forced, and the story rarely feels like it's dragging. (Unlike Eden-6 and Nekrotafeyo in BL3) Jack is hated for the right reasons, and never feels like a joke. There are hour long video essays about why he is such a great villain. There is a lot to do with the amount of good and great dlc added over the years, and it'll always be a fun time to go back.

The gunplay isn't as smooth as BL3's, you can definitely tell it came from 2012, but that comes with the good and the bad lol. If you're not in OP levels there are quite a few guns and builds you can make work and have fun with, and Digistruct Peak will always be there if you wanna start upping the difficulty. It has a little something for everyone, and that's why it's stood the test of time. Don't let people who don't actually understand the eula situation scare you away from playing it

This game slaps so far. I played Icons a bit and this is definitely what I wanted it to be. The combo system is a bit tricky to figure out coming from other platform fighters but it feels great once you get the hang of it. It feels like a blend of 2d fighters and Super Smash Bros Melee, and the characters truly feel unique this time around. Definitely give the game a chance, the devs are always looking for and implementing feedback as well, which is a great sign

If you like platform fighters this really is the game for you. I've only sunken in 36 hours atm and I'm loving every minute. There's a lot of depth for those who are looking for a challenge, but if you just want a great casual experience, update your beta to the workshop version and you have endless content to enjoy with your friends. And downloading it just takes a few clicks. There's a pretty cool story mode, while not a full-fledged 40 hour experience, it's a fun little adventure. Also. there's a tutorial that will teach you every tech you need to know. And while the tech is kinda difficult, but nowhere near Melee levels of precision. It's compatible with any controller you have lying around the house, including Gamecube controllers, and I guarantee you can run this game at full speed no matter how ♥♥♥♥♥♥ your pc/laptop is. It's 100% worth every penny.

This is the most fun I've had with a fighting game in a while. It plays amazing and I would recommend it to hardcore fighting game players and casual players alike. It has a goofy style, but beneath that, there are advanced mechanics that are inspired from Smash Bros Melee, and some that are completely new. This game also gets regular updates, and I'm excited to see what is to come of it
