Used to beef with this guy in high school. We were both on the basketball team, we had bullied the same nerd. We even dated the same girl at different times. At some point, we drifted apart—me with the theater kids, him with the druggies. One time after a game, I went to Sonic with the team and caught him hitting a dab pen in the bathroom. I called him out, slammed the door, and told the guys. Someone snitched to the coach. Next day, Eugene was gone. Never saw him much after that.

Fast forward a few weeks ago—I’m visiting my hometown. Guess who I run into? Larry ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Hentai. Turns out he's helping his church and turning his life around. We exchanged numbers, started playing Counter-Strike, and reconnected. Looking back, we had a lot in common but never wanted to admit it. Funny how life works.
