Enjoyable the whole way through. It takes all the lessons on how to make good puzzles in games and executes that near-perfectly. Simple meal well-made.

In difficulty it's no Baba or DROD but it doesn't need to be to still be challenging.

It's a bit like SS13 crossed with Heat Signature. Since I wasn't immediately overwhelmed by information (like many high-crunch games) this one is doing something right.

Very promising, BUT, the difficulty curve is rough - and that gets worse when you need to think pretty hard to be able to play a single turn, because proper play is a 2-3x multiplier on your actual damage/defense output. I think it just needs a little bit of built-in forgiveness to feel right.

The programming system is just way too annoying.

There's an if-then, but no else. There's no while-do. No goto. No way to copy a symbol from one cell into another one. No multi-select for cards. No simple copy-paste. The save/load is broken: it'll remove settings from cards (deposit), possibly related to if you delete a saved program and make a new one with the same name it'll have some kind of wonky crosstalk.

I got up to crystal-fusing so maybe I'm missing a tool or two but the attempts of making just this part work neatly has not been fun.

And fast-growth + harvest-seeds is just too strong - it makes all other options completely irrelevant.

The character writing, at least, is good.

Little Kitty Big City is better, go play that one first. If you still need more Cat Content afterwards, Stray is ok.

Fun but needs more polish, especially in the controls - sometimes shots don't go anywhere near where you aim, actual platforming is twitchy-painful, and THERE'S NO SEPARATE AIM SENSITIVITY SLIDER FOR THE SNIPER RIFLE.

Palworld shows some promise, but it's just not there yet. Can't seriously recommend it as-is, hoping that will change.

The flying mount should never, ever get unlocked on the first day, before you've beaten the first boss. It just throws a wrench into the exploration part (there needs to be a bit of resistance to overcome in the form of picking your next target and finding a route there).

Some of the ah.... allusions to other intellectual properties are REALLY transparent. Which I feel is a pity because the more original designs are cool.

I feel like the main draw that the game is meant to have going for it throughout the whole game is the combat - the realtime, dynamic fight with pet vs. a single or multiple monsters - and that's an issue because that's only sort-of fun. That needs to be a bit more engaging somehow. I'm also often fighting with the controls a bit to order my active pal to engage an enemy, or accidentally throwing a ball.

I want a dungeon map and I want more interesting dungeon layouts. Look into "cyclic dungeon generation". I've only been into one and it was pretty obviously just a random branching thing, hoping that they're not ALL like that.

The good: the fundamental mood of the game is actually funny, that works. I like that every Pal is really their own thing and has a certain niche in battle, non-combat utility, or industry.

Late addition: the fundamental issue is that it doesn't know what it's trying to do. It's got about 6 different major game elements - 1/3 are barely good enough, 1/3 it gets in its own way, and 1/3 are basically unsupported. If it wants to be a pokemon satire, it should lean into that 100x times harder and SAY something incisive. If it wants to be a fangame, it needs to try to do better than what pokemon did and kill more sacred cows. Unfortunately, I get the feeling that the designers don't want it to be anything better than derivative.

Excellent. Beware if you're the addictive sort; I've got less than 40 hours played and I'm sure it's ruined at least a week's worth of bedtimes already.
