Being completely honest, the mod was quite good actually - the puzzles are crushingly difficult and restrictive like some other Portal fan projects can be, the environments were really well designed and quite gorgeous, the music was very nice and not grating -

I just cannot recommend something with writing so poor and dialog so loud and grating that it drags the entire experience down with it. The characters never stop talking and the dialog is mixed MUCH louder than everything else. Every joke keeps going way beyond the punchline, and even then sometimes the punchline is just, "Haha brain damage!". Some lines are even lifted and slightly rearranged from the original first two games. If you can stomach the garbage writing, there is a really fun gameplay experience under here. But the whole package just left a very bad taste in my mouth, souring the good parts.

I very much do not recommend this game at all, unless you like horror games that don't learn any lessons from its inspirations and are frustratingly annoying to play.

Credit where credit is due, it is very technologically impressive and has great visuals, but there's a lot of problems that bog down the experience from core design philosophies, map design, etc...

The amount of back tracking and frustrating inventory management in this game is insane, this isn't 'survival horror', this is "you have 3-6 inventory slots and you better get used to dropping items and picking them up again for keys." and again, i reiterate, 50-60% of the game is literally just back tracking. Everything clunky, slow, difficult - and to top it all off, the messaging of the game is tropey and extremely disrespectful. The game dives headfirst into using tasteless depictions of mental health, suicide, and self harm just to be scary - and it fails in that.

Also I played the game at 10% volume with the music and sound effect volume down low and it was almost deafeningly loud, while cutscenes and voice acting were barely audible, and not even all of them were properly captioned.

I do not recommend this at all, and thankfully it is free if you want to give this pile of half baked, disappointing ideas a try.

There isn't much to complain about here. Great, unique battle system, great music, great story, great everything. Give if a try.

Don't let the glowing reviews sway you. Portal Stories: Mel is nothing more than a ridiculously hard, poorly written game with romhack levels of difficulty and no clear direction. The only thing going for it is the impressive visuals.

Does this really need to be recommended? It's a super fun, versatile game with something for just about everyone.

Very good reboot series, would recommend

Super cute game, absolutely tons of content. Think if it as like, stardew valley meets animal crossing, with minecraft's building thrown in there.

If you're looking for a more complex farming sim, this is for sure for you. It's a little buggy, but the devs are always listening and fixing problems!

Not the scariest horror game, but definitely a fun game. It's a little rough around the edges and somewhat buggy, but everything still works.

also the protagonist is female and she actually takes her heels off when stuff gets intense 12/10
