Found this super relatable. I personally have not been diagnosed with depression, but I know a few people, including a close family member, who have, and I was taken aback by how many of the scenarios in the game (that I experienced at least because this is a non-linear game) reminded me of what they went through (to the extent of what they've shared with me). This game might not be for everyone, but it is a very soulful experience and being free to play, it's hard to argue against. The people criticising the game for its simple presentation and "boring gameplay" are completely missing the point.

This is the most optimized Unreal Engine 5 game I've ever played, and I genuinely can't believe it was Sonic Team of all developers that pulled it off.

Game is also genuinely great. A lot of people are bound to compare it to the Sega All-Stars duology, and this game's foundation is built off of those classics, but it carves its own identity, almost to the point of it being pointless to try and decide which game is better. A race in All-Stars Transformed is not even remotely the same as a race in Crossworlds, even when playing on the same track design. This game also improves on Team Sonic Racing in almost every way. There's much more variety in the selection of tracks, the customization system is more robust even though it's no longer the focus of the game, and the racing itself taps into that chaotic nature that makes Mario Kart such an amusing affair with friends. The only thing I didn't like is that god awful vocal theme. It's a strong contender for the worst theme song in the series (instrumental versions slap though).

Sonic Team cooked here, and my renewed faith in this franchise has only been reaffirmed with this.

It's alright, but a little underwhelming. The level is fun, but a little too short for its own good. Also, while I didn't take issue with the scripted QTE sequences in the main game, a pretty significant chunk of this level is eaten up by one of them. Also, not being able to use the Movie Shadow skin outside of the Movie level (without modding the game) is kinda lame.

Scarier than some horror games I've played. Would recommend.

Oh sure, when Santa breaks into people's houses in the dead of night, it's "jolly" and a Christmas tradition, but when I do it, it's a crime.

I don't say this lightly, but I genuinely think this is a strong contender for the best 3D Sonic package you can get. The Sonic Generations remaster is extremely well done. Sega's track record for remastering older Sonic games is quite poor, but they turned in a very polished effort for one of the franchise's best games. The graphics aren't super different from the original, but the few additions and enhancements it makes are appreciated, and I found Modern Sonic's drop dash more useful than I expected. Edit: Upon playing it further, I did encounter a few issues that did not exist in the original such as the Metal Sonic Rival Battle music not looping correctly, and issues with Classic Sonic's physics. Nothing that ruins the remaster, but something I figured I'd mention regardless.

What I was really excited for was the Shadow Generations campaign, and it is has far exceeded my already high expectations. Everything from the story, the music, Shadow's moveset and the level design is superb. If Sonic Frontiers was the step in the right direction the franchise desperately needed, then this is the refinement and perfection of that step. Sonic X Shadow Generations not only reminded me of why I love Sonic Generations, but it also reminded me of why I love Shadow, and the franchise as a whole. This gets my highest recommendation.

Peak gaming of the highest calibre. Just as fun now as it was when I first played these games back in high school. Buy it right now.
