I'm going to address both the good, the bad and the downright ugly of the game here, and talk about the most recent update as of writing this review.

THE GOOD!
This has to include some of the downright darkest story-telling I've ever seen in video-game history. It doesn't shy away from how bad the world truly can be, and you dive right into the depths of hell as nothing more than a SWAT officer trying to do the right thing... (And also as the result of a whole government program. That is its own iceberg, play the game, IYKYK.) The customization of your guns, character... Very well done.

THE BAD!
Of course, we can't ignore the most recent update. We got crossplay... At a huge cost. Censorship means the game doesn't feel as outright gritty as it used to, textures got absolutely downgraded and it seems that the AI is still running an absolute rampage against everyone and their mothers. I wish that we had the old version to return to, simply to have that nitty-gritty feeling of how ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up this game can truly get with its content (in a good way). The game's still very baked at certain points thanks to the whole texture downgrade and it doesn't look as crisp as it once did which is a huge shame.

THE UGLY!
This game used to not be for the light-hearted. While it still isn't. it's a lot more bearable which can be classed as a good thing, but I'm pretty sure I can safely say on behalf of most of the consistent playerbase, feels like a shame. Some people even lost hard-earned progress and results thanks to the new update, a huge shame.

To those still wanting to give the game a shot, I would still highly recommend it. The modding community is amazing, and I know plenty of people will still be playing/enjoying the game for the experience it provides nowadays.

Got smacked by my friend with a broom while serving 15 customers at a checkout. Pretty fun.

The classic. Whether modded or vanilla, there's something for everyone in this game.
