Alright, Skyrim. This game has been out for 2 years at this point, I have played over 300 hours and tried hundreds if not thousands of Mods so I guess I can finally put my opinion on it. Standalone Elder Scrolls V puts you into the world tamriel, specifically Skyrim. You are the only one who can save the world, imbued with a great power yadda yadda stop the baddy. Typical Elder Scrolls. The story itself is actually well done once you get past the cliche bits but the main story quest felt... lacking. Its in the side quests where you feel most invested as you can join a number of orders and each one has characters you admire and loathe uncontrollably (Dirge I'm looking at you.) If the story is not your thing the combat feels different from other games, you can either be in first or third person, either going the melee or ranged route, The first time I swung my axe into a bandits head felt satisfying and the enemies level up with you simultaneously so you can almost never run out of a challenge (until you get max level, then everything dies from your maxed enchanting daedric bow of doom in one shot, even dragons). That brings up another thing I love about Skyrim. DRAGONS. Dragons serve as a anytime anywhere challenge where you must fight for your life. It is a great mechanic but if you are playing on a lower difficulty they turn into flying bone and scale sacks that like to pick on you from time to time.

The WORLD of skyrim is probably the most impressive. The environment (while somewhat pixelly for lower graphics levels) is beautiful in its execution and well designed. There are plenty of times where I've stared in amazement as the night filled the sky or the sunsets on top of a mountain ridge reflecting off a nearby lake. Beautiful. And even small little things scattered across the region like a lockbox hidden under a basket in some ruins or chest inside of a mammoths skeleton. little nuances that make the player feel good for finding these little tidbits the designers saw fit to put in the game. almost like finding a secret among the vastness of Skyrim.

If You dont like one particular thing about Skyrim, the combat the people, the environment, or even the graphics, cahances are there is a mod for it. From changing the look of your companions to completely changing Skyrim from a wintery wasteland to a lucious jungle, there is most likely a mod for it. Or, you know, if you like big boobs theres that too. There are thousands upon thousands of mods ranging from bug fixes for the original game to turning dragons into trains. Yes. Train dragons. Am I blowing your mind?

The DLCs for Skyrim are wonderful as they add more to the story while at the same time do not demand a max level cap or other requirements. The people you meet and the places you go in add depth to the world of Tamriel and give great satisfaction worth it. Except the Hearthfire one. Basically build your own house and adopt a brat to stick inside of the house.

I've had so much fun with Skyrim and had so many awesome memories that I would recommend it to anyone willing to try an immersive experience inside of a wonderful world. Thank you for reading and have a good day. ^_^
