They blew it with the economy and grind changes in the last few years.
You know, a simple easing of the grind, lowering of the repair costs and decompressing of the battleratings would make the game skyrocket in both positive reviews and players, the community has even proposed possible solutions for said problems numerous times already.

But no, the greedy devs always have to go through the mental gymnastics and whatnot to keep the status quo of the soulcrushing grind just so that they could sell more premium vehicles , absolutely destroying the dreams of many players that wish to reach top tier or hell, even just play the game in general and look where this led to.
Keep in mind that a average premium vehicle goes for around 30-60 euros and thats without you paying for a premium account as well which you are gonna need anyway because even with both it will still take you months if not years to reach the end of a tech tree. Thats the price for a full AAA game. You make of that what you will.
