Underwhelming, disappointing and tedious. That is all that I can say about the latest experimental update. Considering that the base game already lacked enough interesting content, the newest update basically made the game worse. Being marketed as a big update, it only adds two major gameplay changes, both being interesting in theory, but in reality only slowing down an already boring progression. Biome challenges that are required to traverse certain parts of the map can be done in around 30 minutes or so, while not giving any rewards except for exp, which feels like an artificial decision to slow down your progress while giving basically nothing in return. The same can be said about the second new change being storms. Being lethal if you decide to stay out for too long, forces you to hide and gives you no reason to go out, which means that the game just forces you to stop playing for a period of time.
I felt like the game was already not worth the money before the update, and after playing the newest one, and considering the recent price rise of the game (it was half the price before june 2024), I do not recommend anyone wasting their money on a game that barely gets updates, and can only be enjoyed in a multiplayer setting. Because playing this solo is a mind-numbing experience. Either buy it at a big discount, or don't waste your time and money on this at all.
