Fields of Mistria is great if you like cozy and magical games. The other villagers are diverse, will comment on things you donate to the museum, and don't often repeat dialogue. The art style and sprites are beautiful with a mix of cute touches to most things. One thing is the villagers change their outfits depending on the season, maybe in future updates they'll change outfits during festivals. There isn't a sense of danger or any real kind of scares, though I've only played through spring and most of summer. The game already has a lot to do and experience, I'm sure through the development stages there will be more added. There aren't a whole lot of cons so far. The days do feel a bit short and if you like a clean farm, trees and rocks spawn too much to keep it mostly clean.

If you like a game with no intensity, just a cozy vibes to relax with that has the art style of a 90's anime. Then try it, the real selling point is petting all the animals and putting little hats on your own animals.

Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen IS my favorite game, I loved it when it first came out in 2012, when I got multiple copies for various platforms, and even now! On PS4 I got to level 200 and I had only just got to the end of bitterblack isle, the DLC for the game. So I'm now reviewing my favorite game for the first time after eight YEARS of playing and enjoying.

Short version: If you like big battles, great combat, lots of enemies, a story you have to make the connections to understand, some funny moments via the pawns being pawns, places to explore, cool weapons and armor. Then I think you'll like this game.

LONG DRAWN OUT VERSION CAUSE I'M GONNA PUT MY THOUGHTS ALL OUT THERE BUCKO:

Things I love, the big monster battles, and enemy variation. You can climb a cyclops and stab it in the eye! Climb a Drake's tail while it hovers, breathing fire on your pawns, just to deal massive damage while it's trying to shake you off. Grab a harpy's feet in order to go for a medieval esc. flight for a bit till your ride just decides to crash and burn! The combat is where the game is strong, mix and match vocations, move sets, weapons in order to get what kind of combat experience you enjoy most! It's so much fun to fight stuff! There's a lot of variation in combat, what to do, aanndd variant in enemies, There is a LOT of monsters and pretty much every monster has some sort of variation depending on where, and when you're at in the game. Some only appear end game, in caves, on Bitter Black isle. Each different kind comes with new tactics, new resistances, move sets and even design.

Story. A lot of people I've talked to say "there isn't a story" and on the surface level things just seem like "kill the big bad dragon and get your heart back". So yeah there isn't much of a story if you just look at a surface level but the thing is, this game doesn't tell you that much of the lore or even what you're really doing. Most of the story comes to you gradually and is made by your own inferences and connections to what's going on. Once you make your own inferences after gradually realizing things, then the game becomes much more...existentialistic. However, to fully get certain concepts...a new game plus is required as new scenes and aspects of the story open up. Which is an advantage and disadvantage as if you didn't think there was much story there to begin with, then why play the game AGAIN?

Since you get Pawns from other players. A Pawns skill, mannerisms, even general tactics depend entirely on someone else's main pawn. Some will throw you up into the air so you can get some more swings at a big monster, some will catch you if you fall from, then there's SOME who will stop and gather every little thing...even when in battle. I also find some of the things they say or mention to be rather funny and it gets a chuckle out of me. It's also fun to go into the rift and see some people's loving creations.

A medium world with lots to do and explore. Just as it says, there are plenty of places to explore and even some areas which you question "why is there a chest here?". If you're the type of person to explore EVERY nook and cranny multiple times "just to be sure you didn't miss anything" there are PLENTY of places to do that with.

Characters. Most main characters, such as Gregori, are well written and well voice acted. And plenty of voices which you'll maybe hear and go "Oh, I've heard that voice" and then proceed to either recollect the characters they've done ooorrr try to remember where you've heard them. However, much like any game there are a few characters and voices which fall flat for me.

Little story things that surprised me even after playing a lot of the game. Such as "Oh I didn't know that person could be saved" and then hearing a small change in dialogue afterwards. and a few different ways to do quests that you won't know till you just decide to do something different.

Customize your Arisen and Pawn with pre selected features, height, weight, a few sliders, different colored eyes and more to be either a thing of beauty or a bit of a "why did I make this" creation.

and now for small things that I'm not fond of but don't ruin the game for me.

A lot of back and forth. There is no fast travel, and you don't get the ability fast travel till the you get ferrystones and find the first portcrystal in Gran soren, eventually you can buy portcrystals but not till late in the game and you only get a set number. However, as someone mentioned with Dark Arisen added and bitterblack isle, and me looking further into it, you do get an eternal ferrystone (it won't be consumed upon use) right from the start pretty much. I guess after all this time I've never used one till I've gotten to bitter black isle (which for me personally I don't do DLC till I'm done with the main game) or till the after game! Thanks for the correction :)

Quest markers aren't clear sometimes, I mean where to go, even with a map but your map is fogged out till you explore the area and you're just going in the general direction hitting a mountain that's in your way, wishing you could just go through it.

One specific point in the story is YOU HAVE TO HAVE A BELOVED! There is no way around it, no way to choose to not have one, and if you don't pick anyone you get a default person but if you don't care about the character much then it makes a specific moment not as err impactful. And for the most part, to get affection up you just throw the item the character likes at them till they get a pink glow and sparkly music plays. Although there is an item in the game that'll set a character to be your beloved in subsequent play throughs so you don't have to throw festive pie's at their face till they love you every single new game. Also to fully assure they're your beloved, they have to be the LAST person you talk to, with a high affinity, or else the game will choose someone else before a point of no return.

There isn't much, character interaction, like it's clear this isn't a dialogue wheel, make memorable connections, these characters are everything. Type of game and that's okay. It's not the focus of the game. For the most part you do specific character quests and throw items they like at their face in order to get them to like you.

aannnddd I believe that's all I gotta say about that.

BREAKING REVIEW REPORT! I would recommend, however this game is not for everyone. It's slow paced with not much else to do, there is no score, no time limit, no points, but there are combos! You just buy things and burn things in order to afford to burn more things. And then you repeat that for about four to five hours. It's a short game with a nice art style, nice music, and a few interesting characters with lines of dialogue. Not to mention the slightly dark humor in the descriptions of the items. If you're interested I'd say get it when it's on sale and just have a nice time, by the cozy fire, burning all of your material items away.

I would say Terraria was worth the $9.99 I paid for it! There is so much to do, dig, and explore! I'm 96 hours into the game and I still have loads to do! I think the boss fights, building and exploring is where this game holds strong.

But a great mechanic that SHOULD be utilized is multiplayer, while it's fun to play on your own when it comes to Terraria, that feeling when you're in a WAY stronger friends world, minding your own bees wax far away, they summon an "ancient moon evil" and it spawns on you, COMPLETELY focused on your nooblet self or other fun moments like just digging a deep tunnel across the world just to avoid having to go through the gross flesh area that nobody likes.

The NPCs are hit or miss, they have their purpose but they're not meant to be deep. I will say at first it is difficult to play, as in you will die from creatures, from falling, and even from fish but once you get better armor and weapons things become...slightly easier. However for the most part when it comes to some boss fights, mainly hardcore mode fights, unless you look up a guide it's very hard to find out how to get them to spawn or what's required in the first place. But that's the general feel of the game. Everything you do or fight is up to you, for you to figure out, experience, and explore. The 2D pixelated world is at your finger tips.

And that's all I gotta say about that.
