While I'm sure the game itself is as fun as ever, the graphical issues with this version are incredibly frustrating. I thought it was just the camera clipping on walls as I ran around but turns out the game does not like running well.

If you plan to play the game with DLSS at over 60fps and/or in an ultrawide resolution expect constant flickering, camera twitches, and watching the screen squish to a smaller aspect ratio every few seconds of gameplay.

tl;dr; It's far too short, shallow and lacks charm. Wait for a 70%+ discount.

+ It looks great. The RE engine is still really nice.

~ Don't get why they altered her "classic" costume.
~ It's far more action-oriented, but RE3 always was.
~ Mercenaries mode has effectively been replaced by REsistance. Because of this, you have to grind the main game to earn points to buy things from the shop for subsequent playthroughs.

- It's really short. Took me slightly over 4 hours, even while hunting for all the secrets. An achievement expects you to do it in under 2 hours.
- They gutted half the original game. Lots of areas are shrunk or outright removed. Many enemy types and boss fights are gone.
- Nemesis feels hugely scripted, at least when he is around. Mr X in the RE2make was a much better Nemesis.
- No diverging paths or different endings. The original RE3 was short but it had the replayability there.

It's anime Dead Cells. Combat is not quite as fluid and the translation is a bit wonky in places, but the gameplay formula is very similar.

What they said: We will stick close to and respect the original series this game takes from.
What happened: Here are a bunch of fanfic-tier OC characters and generic non-sci-fi guns to use.

What they said: We will not make the game pay2win, the only things sold for real money will be skins so it's up to you.
What happened: Anything you buy from the store is now a roulette. The Makoto skin you want is SSS-rare.

What they said: We want to add lots of cool features in the future like singleplayer/co-op campaigns, tachikoma piloting, customisable skills and more!
What happened: We are in way over our heads please do not expect any of this to happen making good games is so much harder than we thought haha wow is our face red right now.

What they said: Operatives have different skills, but you can pick a gun and tweak them to play them your way.
What happened: Operatives must use certain gun and perk types. Did you spend dozens of hours grinding for a specific gun that now can't be used by your favourite operative? That's a damn shame. No refunds.

What they said: This game will be supported for the foreseeable future since we love the IP and the fanbase!
What happened: We have completely alienated fans of the GitS world, pissed off the majority of our playerbase by completely overhauling core gameplay mechanics a year after release, flooded the game with unbalanced maps and weapons, introduced a throng of terribly uninteresting characters nobody ever wanted, and irreparably damaged our reputation so we'll close the game in a couple of months. Still no refunds. Get out.

Thanks Nexon and Neople.

You tried.

Pretty okay Hearthclone with wonderful art.

However, said art (plus some names) has been censored with the dev promising more in future.

Nope.

Remember when Progress Quest was a thing and it was just a joke and we were all like "haha who would play a game that is just watching some bars go up?"

Turns out people will play it if you just add some cute girls.

What a world we live in.

A moderate-length spree through some nostalgic FPS eras, Bedlam is a very average game with an interesting premise. Despite seemingly wishing to be a love letter to past classics, we are never truly treated to the things that made those games great and instead are indulged with but a mention of the matter.

The guns, for a start, are appalling. Each and every one of them lack any sort of feel and all but one even shoot in the direction they are pointed in. The sniper rifle, in a twist of fate, is one of the least accurate things I have ever attempted to hit a stationary target with. That is if the hit even registers. The accompanying sounds also feel devoid of relation to many weapons, most notably the sword making the sound of rattling chains when swung.

In addition the movement cannot decide which way it wishes to be so it is stuck in a horrible low gravity, low friction limbo that can grind one to a halt on but a small incline or pebble in the road. It feels worst during the many jump pad sections which have more a habit of throwing up more than forward leaving huge uncertainty of making said jump. Although you never need actually make them, rocket jumps also lack any sort of control. Any sort of explosion seems to just throw force randomly about.

I'd say my final grievance with the game is the main character: wee gamer lassy Athena. Every other sentence out of her mouth is to remind us that yes, she is a girl, and, yes, she does play games, ugh I am so much better than all those silly boys I used to play with being a girl gamer is hard. Lots of name dropping of other games for, from what I made of it, no better reason than to do so and appear hip with the kids. Any dialogue that isnt exposition of the world is a small travesty unto the world.

But there is an interesting story on it, which is something. Theres a large build-up and very limited character interaction before its just rushed off, spawn deus ex and ♥♥♥♥♥♥"boss"fightend. So actually its not a great story, just a good premise of living in a game world(s) and having to break the system to prevent AI simply over running.

I can only speculate that the book handled it better. Hell, the book probably handled the controls and gunplay better too. Oh well.

vertiginous
vəːˈtɪdʒɪnəs
adjective
extremely pretentious or sophomoric.
"Vertiginous Golf is so deep, man, you just don't get it."
relating to or affected by hipsterdom.

The controls are about as tight as your mother after a night with her "dance" instructor, evidenced by the fact that the rewind feature is not so much introduced as a "Whoops, didnt quite get that shot, try again, bucko" and more like "♥♥♥♥ it, just hit it. Hit it, see what happens and rewind. Why are you even aiming jesus you ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nerd." Thats if you can even see where the hell youre even meant to be going. Some holes are less golf and more unfinished Rube Goldberg tracks.

The free stroke system used only serves to reinforce the aforementioned horrendous aiming and precision, or lack thereof, as it requires you to continually place shots which not only shoot your ball to exactly where it needs to be but also cost nothing. Miss? Well youre stuck somewhere you dont want to be and its cost you a shot. Plus another to get out. And another to be where you want to. Fantastic. Now you could ignore them and just play it straight but then youll never break par.

Interesting and uncommon aesthetics absolutely wasted on a mechnically flawed game.

And why the hell try to stick a dystopian storyline over mini golf?
