Great game, I'm looking forward to more content but what's there right now is more than playable for a good 20-30 hours. It was a little bit too easy in the end once I figured everything out. I restarted once and completed the map on the second try once I got to grips with it. Having said that, the relative ease made it more enjoyable.

It's quite off-putting when the first thing you see when you launch the game is a prompt to buy the DLC. I hadn't even started playing the game and already there was an attempt to extort me. A worrying sign of things to come.

The main draw for me when thinking about buying the game was the Workshop content, which at first glance appears to be a thriving community. I was disappointed to find that the Workshop content is just blueprint templates of items already in the game, most of which require the DLC to use.

At £7.99 each, multiplied by 4, the cost of the DLC exceeds the RRP of the game, not including the 3 smaller DLC's. Whilst the gameplay seemed good I can't justify paying more than the price of the base game again to get the full experience.

Very impressed with this so far, well worth the money. A vast improvement over Xplane 10.

The cost-prohibitive nature of FSX/P3D has put me off flight sims for a long time but thanks to the amount of quality default & freeware content available for X-Plane 11, I'm hooked again. The modding community is a great asset and even the payware is modestly priced.

Out of the box X-Plane 11 looks great, especially at night. Scenery mods like Ortho4XP really bring the sim to life, and all for free. Another mod which comes highly recommended is Zibo's default 737 mod which adds additional features and vastly improves the sounds.

I can't really comment on the flight model etc. as I've no idea what I'm talking about there but it feels great to me. I'm sure other, more qualified people have more valuable input on this in other reviews.

Again, X-Plane now feels like a quality product, which is well worth the money, especially if you can grab it in a sale.

Pros:

Cons:
- Atrocious server performance
- Epidemic cheating
- Unoptimised assets
- Inconsistent hit reg
- Microtransactions
- Constant crashes
- Struggles to render a simple text string on the lobby screen (?)
- The title of the game is all in caps like it was written by a 10 year old

And yet people still keep clicking that 'Ready' button...

I can't help but think the reviews for this game are from biased die-hard fans of the game series.

Myself and my friends first experiences of this game was a BattlEye error and the game wouldn't run.

When we finally figured out how to solve the BattlEye error we tried to join a party to play together... a simple task you'd imagine. But no, invites don't work 99% of the time. When you eventually get in a party somehow, the game can't put you in the same game without something else going wrong. I could see 2 matchmaking counters and when I got in a game the team overlay was stuck open because I'd somehow joined 2 games.

I then read that items you earn during the free weekend don't transfer over if you decide to buy the game. If that's true, what's the point?

Then we get onto the subject of the pricing model. It's just a convoluted mess of money grabbing and confusion. What happened to buying a game and owning it without all this extra yearly subscription nonsense?

It's safe to say I won't be buying this game. Thanks to the free weekend I was able to make this decision without wasting any money. Yet again I steer clear of anything Ubisoft touches.

I wanted to play Overwatch but couldn't justify the price tag. At first I didn't really get Paladins but after a couple of games I'm loving it. Gameplay is smooth and seems pretty balanced. Very tempted to get the founders pack while it's on sale and put some hours into this.

Gameplay is good but the menu and multiplayer is shocking. The forced tutorial in 'My Club' mode is infuriating; I just want to play football. Tried to play a match against a mate but the matchmaking just got stuck in a loop while trying to connect.

The fact that the game has to query the servers every 5 seconds and each time you go to a different menu is ridiculous.

Potentially a good game but it's way too clunky and trying to be like Fifa too much. Just do your own thing and quit with the money grabs. Hard to complain when it's free but it's terrible in its current form.

After a few hours, I have to say I'm very impressed. Coming from simulators such as iRacing and Assetto Corsa, I would say DiRT Rally is in the same league.

I have some experience with Richard Burns Rally which is touted as being the best driving simulation available, which I would absolutely agree with. It's hard for me to compare the two as I haven't played RBR in a while, however, I remember RBR just feeling right when I first tried it. DiRT Rally also gave me this feeling so they must be doing something right. Considering RBR was released 10 years ago, it's about time somebody challenged to be the king of driving simulation.

The handling is raw and unforgiving. The sounds, especially in third person, are perfect. The graphics are good enough; which I don't mind as long as the handling feels good.

Steering wheel support seems OK. using a G27, I set the degrees of rotation to 270 in logitech profiler and turned the wheel strength down to 80%, wheel weight to 40%. There doesn't seem to be any clutch support which is odd. I'm using elastic bands to convert my H-shifter into a sequential shifter. A handbrake is definitely a requirement now. In the next few days I'll be designing a 3d printable off/on handbrake which will use an Arduino Pro Micro as the USB device controller. Unfortunately I don't think a handbrake axis is supported.

The pace notes let the game down at the moment. I'm forever shouting at my virtual co-driver when he calls a turn too late and I go flying off a cliff. To add to this, I don't like the graphical pacenotes overlay. It's very hard to distinguish what's coming up next at a glance if you didn't hear the co-driver say it (I know you wouldn't get this benefit IRL but it's poorly executed). I also think the pacenote graphics look childish and overly stylised which isn't in keeping with the clean and serious UI/attitude of the game.

The in-game cameras are another slight let down. For the time being I'm forced to use the dash cam because the cockpit cam is too far back. I'd also like a bit more flexibility in the replays to watch on the TV style cams all the time. I understand why they've done it this way but it's a game, the devs have the ability to use any cameras they want.

Another thing that annoys me is the vehicle recovery mechanic. Sometimes I'm not given a chance to recover the vehicle myself and I'm magically dumped back on the track with a time penalty. Something Richard Burns Rally did well was a quick animation showing spectators flipping the car back over for you. It just adds a bit of immersion rather than a magical lazy recovery to the middle of the track.

I'm not too fond of the progression aspect of the championship. I'd prefer to test my skills as a driver rather than my patience. Having said that, the mini was pretty fun.

All things considered I'd definitely recommend this game. With a bit more work and more content I can see it being really great. Thank you to codemasters for taking a step back and assessing the market. I've had enough of the assist ridden Monster Energy adverts you've been putting out over the past few years.
