After putting several (1000+; ~600 on xbox one) hours into this game, I can say for certain that you should definitely be sure you do research on this game before you buy it. The community is not very noob friendly and will proceed to capitalize on your weakness. If you do still end up buying this game, whether it be to play with a friend or by yourself, I highly recommend you use the new training system that's recently been added. As it's actually quite helpful. Once you're comfortable doing all of the tasks and you can do them consistently, you can move on to the next step; PvAI. This includes getting yourself familiarized with the different game types and figuring out which one you prefer the most. I also recommend going in and setting up a custom game with a bot that doesn't fight in order to mess around with characters to learn combos and choose your favorite. Once you have made that decision, go into the game mode with the character you've chosen as your favorite and start grinding it up, use the skills you've learned in training to slaughter robots like it's Terminator 2. Once you hit rep 3 or 4 and earn some decent gear, you're ready for the real deal; PVP. Now I must warn you, your first few games will either be glorious, or terrible, there is no in between. However, think of every loss as a learning experience, if you see a move that's getting you alot, go into a custom and program a bot to perform it so you can learn to counter. This game is extremely fun if you don't take it too seriously, but hey, if you wanna get your kicks in going hard, this game can also be really fun to do that in.
