Preface: I don't recommend this game for new players. Here's why.

The game is genuinely fun, but if you don't have a lot of friends who can teach you how to play the game, or if you don't have the time/patience to spend reading dozens and dozens of wiki pages or whatnot on the game, you're ♥♥♥♥ out of luck. The game does not include any kind of tutorial for the new players - or even someone who's hasn't played the game in a while. I had to put the game down when it was on the Blizz launcher because of some IRL stuff, and I came back to the game when it re-released on to steam only to have to go through the whole relearning process. The in-game currencies and mechanics for upgrading weapons are poorly if not just flat out not explained. Nearly everything I've learned about Destiny 2 was through purely accidental with friends telling me that I could do things that I had no clue.

To this day, the main reason I refuse to play is due to the lack of any kind of tutorial. As well as when launching the "New Light" or whatever it's called had no explanation of the different terminology from Power to Light. Considering how there's a million different vocabulary for the game, I assumed it was something different and remained oblivious to the fact that it was renamed. Let alone the fact that there was no option to start off at 0 Light or Power level and it forces you to start off at 750. Made the time I had previously sunk into the game feel as if it was just pointless and that I was given the higher level gear just by existing. Not to say that I don't like the idea behind it, making it so I had a chance to play with friends who were miles ahead in power levels.

Despite all the things that detracted me from this game, I still think it's a well made game. I find the gunplay enjoyable, the main story is appealing, the characters are well thought out, and the game is great to play with friends. It's definitely worth a shot - I mean, it's free. Other than the massive download space that's required but that's fine with me.
