Game is very bland for the price. It is basically a RPS style with very minor unit differences between factions. Ballistas feel absolutely useless, as well as watch towers as an enemy unit can burn one down in two volleys. Catapults are very strong against buildings, but with such small squad sizes I would rather have another fighter than be at a disadvantage.

A match generally lasts 30 minutes to just under an hour (this is just doing bot matches). AI tends to spam fast as if they ignore resources. After going up to medium bots feel like I got the gist of this game the AI would tend to have all their unit slots filled in only a few minutes, feeling like a requirement to lock down to 5 unit cap. With that cap in place the AI spam is still pretty intense but jumping between villages gives you enough time to match their units. Other issues with the AI is the units they spam. Vikings on medium were only building spears from start to end, similar issues occured with other factions generally building one unit the whole game (the worst being Anglo-Sax who never seem to want to build anything but Slings).

Campaigns are pretty fun since they aren't always just skirmish mode. I completed Viking tutorial campaign and each mission was rather fun, not sure why all the campaigns aren't available though if this isn't an early access title.

I absolutely do not recommend this game for $45. This game is worth $20 or less. Even then there are better RTS games out there to play.
