incredibly satisfying movement
i feel stupid because i first played it in class, using the arrow keys on my laptop for camera control, but even then i had a great time. just goes to show how good the mechanics are

Not worth $40 for the base game content. If you want to get your money's worth, then you need to install mods and use them in sandbox modes, because that's 75% of the game: the sandbox.
Most mods are slapdash creations from people using reverse engineered templates, because the developers, after 6 months, only have avatar support and EXTREMELRY rudimentary (not even grippbable) item and level support.
Even within the base game, the story is short and half of it is a minigame collection, the levels are linear and don't even come close to the environmental storytelling of the prior game, BONEWORKS.

I like this game not as a game, but as a test-bed to program in, and the developers built the game in a way that is explicitly discouraging of code modding, so I have to wade through hell and high water to even be able to INTERACT with the game's systems properly.

TL;DR - Game is alright. Debatably worse than its predecessor but costs more. Developers promised mod support, but released only with Avatars in the SDK and have done almost ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ over 6 months.

This game was already visually stunning, with every area having its own theme and unique version of a post-war Eastern Europe, but if you have the specs for it, the enhanced edition takes the graphical fidelity and turns it to 11, as you can see the light cast from every small detail, from fire to red dots on your gun's sight. The story itself is engaging to the end (Caspian Sea not withstanding, tbh), and the gunplay is refined as all hell, requiring you to manage resources between ammo for various guns and medkits or maintaining your gear.
