Being there with you in Vietnam made the history feel terrifyingly real the war stopped being something abstract and turned into something you could almost hear and feel. Walking through places that once saw so much suffering, it was impossible not to imagine the fear people lived with every day, never knowing where danger was coming from, always watching, always listening, there in the trees.

Back during the war, Nate and I would sneak out of our barracks and kill civilians. It was the most fun I ever had in my life, and reminiscing on it always brings me great joy. Hopefully you're well man, I know you've been messing around with heroin.
