This review is coming from someone who:

1. Has never played a hero shooter, and haven't heavily played a shooter since COD Black Ops 2.
2. Started to try to learn mouse and keyboard from this game, and is used to controller for 10+ years.

The game is easy to get into and is very fun, even as a beginner. Learning mouse and keyboard has been a blast as well, as some characters don't have as many or complicated abilities/buttons as others to learn with. The game has a lot of ways to adjust things such as keybinds, mouse sensitivity, or even your hero's reticle. Losing in the game is rough but you'll definitely win some over time. Crossplay is on quickplay as well so you can play with console friends.

I do have two main issues right now that are easy to fix. One, is that quickplay can have lobbies filled with bots on the other team if you lose two games in a row. The only way to guarantee human players is if you play the ranked mode, which I play a lot but others might not want to. The second is that specific stats are not shown in-game, but instead you have to visit their website to view stats such as cooldown times, additional effects on abilities, etc. Why these are not included in-game I am unsure of.

Overall would recommend, even to players new to the genre. I'd give it a try. Just don't expect to hop in and play it like Call of Duty in a team-based hero shooter.

I haven't played the original first Dead Rising game, but from what I've seen it's pretty faithful to the original game with quality of life features added. Some parts of the game can be frustrating though, especially when you're trying to bring back survivors or mow down a horde so you can get through and you still get grabbed by a zombie. Inventory can also be painful to start off with until you level up a lot for more space. Everything is also timed based, some things might be happening at the same time so time management is huge.

I have yet to complete the story but if you were interested in the first game, it looks like this is the one to go for.
