For fans of the ENA series like myself, this is exactly what we've been waiting for: ENA but in an interactive medium!
Not much changes from the formula of the series minus the introduction of some basic puzzles and nonsensical dialogue. For those who dont know anything about ENA, this is just a simple puzzle and exploration game.
As a fan of ENA myself, I had trouble waiting and was willing to pay for this experience- though I was blown away by the fact that it was 100% free!

And thank you very much for this experience.
After so long playing games that required fast reflexes, it was nice to slow down for a little while and play this. It was almost meditative in fact, solving puzzles and listening to the soft music, all just to make myself a partner.
Some of the puzzles in this are big brain-teasers while others are pretty straight forward.
I do believe that, for puzzle lovers out there, this is a must-play; while for those who aren't big fans of puzzles, I still think this game is worth a try.

A very useful tool for your VR cables. Now if there were only some way I could keep myself from accidentally yanking them out of the USB port >:(

I'm hoping that the developers read my review. With any updates that come along I will try to update my review here and touch up any points that need to be restated.
The major concern I have right now with this game is that it feels... unfinished, or perhaps feeling more like a tech-demo, rather than having the full experience of the game.
I played the demo and full game back to back and only played for as long as my headset remained connected- which brought me as far up as the fifth level. I will be making some comparisons to Dungeon Keeper by Bullfrog, as that is clearly what inspired this game.
First of all, this game seems to completely lack a story. While you enter each level by clicking on a segment of the overworld map, there seems to be nothing to tell you why you are doing what you are doing, nor is there any text or dialogue to add flavor to the game. Plus the map is in a black void, making it so there's not much to look at really.
Loading into the first level, you find that the art style is very cartoony with minimal shading... in that there is no shading, save for a circular shadow below your minions- which makes everything look quite bright in a strange paradoxical way. However, while I think I could get used to this, I would have liked to see something more "1997 McFarlane's Spawn" in terms of how the shadows behave.

These are some of my major issues so far with the game...
> Information about your dungeon can be seen overhead- which makes use of the areas you find since you'll be looking down a lot of the time- however I feel that this was a detail that could have been used elsewhere. Id much recommend having all of your information, spells, and everything else in a book that players can flip through with marks on the side to quickly get to different things. For example, one page has all of your minions, while another has a list of all the buildings you have unlocked?
> Each of the objectives are pretty much the same as well. "Destroy all enemies" with waves of enemies coming in... every level. There are no tactical puzzles you need to figure out to conqure an enemy dungeon as far as I can see yet. But it feels like this was built to be more of a defence style game... at which point, why are we the bad guys DEFENDING our dungeon? Why arent we the ones laying seige to our enemies? As a result, once youve built up your dungeon, a lot of time is spent waiting around for the waves of heros to spawn. For a note here, all of the early levels were completed in 16 minutes, with at least half of that time spent waiting.

-=EDIT: Ive played a little more and there does appear to be enemy dungeons, however there are no rooms in said dungeon and they're usually completely open, which makes it difficult to expand and prepare when you have a full enemy platoon breathing down your neck, and you werent given the space in your spawn location to attract any minions. To make this a tad more interesting for the player, more defensive structures and rooms need to be introduced and available to the player upon their spawn. Doors would go a long way to help with that, sealing off enemies in their own structures while also allowing your doors to protect important structures, like your dungeon heart

> There is always a source of infinite gold on every map somewhere... Which makes it so that once youve claimed that gold- you dont need to go expanding your dungeon to get more gold. Make it so that these are rarely seen in the game.

Small Nitpicks:
> I dont feel particularly evil. I mean all of our minions eat what look like mandrakes??? theyre radishes with faces and although they do make noises and their noises are cute... they dont move at all. There doesnt seem to be any dark edge to this game
> Your imps fortify the walls as soon as they claim territory... Maybe a bit of a bigger one here but to me, it's very annoying that the heros can easily cut through your walls... This completely defeats any purpose of any fortified walls in the first place. I personally would like it if claimed walls had more health, or required some spell or device to break through.
> Every minion announces itself when it enters the dungeon. Given there are only three voice lines per minion, this gets annoying to hear- fast. Id recommend making it so the player can only hear them when the'yre closer to the portal, or make it so the announcer tells the player when the first one of each type comes into the dungeon.
> It's impossible to tell when a minion is a different level. Make it so we can see the level either above the minion, give the minion a rank symbol to wear, or tell us the level after it's been picked up... Also healthbars, it's hard to tell what your minons' health is in battle.
> If the imp can be killed by the weakest enemy in the game, why do the imps charge into battle instead of running away? Make them cowards, who run from enemies- heck, even make them drop gold to make them run faster!

Suggestions for improvements!!
> Change where the game's information is!
Id recommend putting the information you might see overhead either as part of the player's HUD centered around their eyes, having some information easily accessable on their hands, or even putting that information on a tome somewhere that the player can pick up and flip through, giving them information about their dungeon, composition of minions in their dungeon, or even as a replacement for the current menu system.
> Give us an Total Zoom Out View, like from Deus!
I'm imagining a new system where, if you zoom out as far as possible, or toggle a new view, that it shoots you up to a DND style table-top, where you can play from instead. Just an idea, and if you were to add a multiplayer PVP mode, that would be an interesting way to view the enemy player.

I want this game to be better and I hope my suggestions and points here help push the developers to make it better- heck, I'd be willing to really help if given the oppertunity, though what are the chances of that?
As of its current state right after release, do I recommend this game?.. Well, again this game feels unfinished. While I will be playing more to see how the game plays out more, and keeping an eye out for any updates, there seems to be a lot missing so far. As of November 1st, 2024... no I can't recommend you play this in the state it's currently in.

Okay so this game doesnt take too long to complete, but it's fun to replay in the custom mode.
Please for the love of god get a big playspace for this because I got way too into it and... well lets just say the Arena isnt the only thing that got bloody.
Still fun tho

no. Just no. I'm not going to support a game which has the vanilla experience being completely empty and boring, only to then have over $1,000 worth of DLC. Even though this game is free, that was not always the case, and Sims4 released at $60.00 with this same DLC issue.

I played this game right off of the heels of The Room 4, and this was certainly something different. I did enjoy this game and played it all in one sitting.. or standing I guess- anyway, the fact that I played this in one continuous sitting should tell you how engrossed and fun this game was, however there were some things that I felt were a little lacking, and those are simply down to a few mechanics that were abandoned for this game.
Primarily, the manipulation of objects was abandoned. Do you remember how, when you picked up an object, you could spin it around in another screen and possibly change it's shape? well you cant do that anymore in this game. In fact you could probably complete this game with just one controller, which was a missed opportunity in my eyes.
As well, I also found it kind of annoying how you had to open your inventory to turn on the eyepiece instead of flicking something to the side of your head- see Ghost of Tabor's Night Vision Goggles to see what I mean.
With that said, this game definitely keeps the feel and atmosphere of The Room series, and I believe was a welcome addition. Should they make any more in the series, I'd recommend trying to make it in such a way to allow VR players to play with their headsets, while still allowing Keyboard players to play the game.

Welcome back, The Room!
This game was a lot of fun, and was a great reintroduction to the series after a long while, which made me remember just how much I loved this series.
The puzzles are great and the fact that you have to solve puzzles in one room to finish the puzzle in another was an interesting mechanic, kind of like it allowed for the player to take a break from one and work on another, at least that's how I view it.
Also, Fireproof Studios, if you see this message, please make a collector's edition package with the eyepiece, it look so cool and I want it in my room! I promise I wont go looking for the null :]

It's a gambling game in VR... What else did you expect?
You play popular casino games like Blackjack, Roulette and Poker (hence the name).
Personally, I like playing Blackjack especially after a long day.
If you like to gamble, then just make sure you DON'T use real money in this game, it's not a real casino and you can't get your money out of this game.

Well this was a turn for the worse. It appears that the people behind this game thought it would be smart to lock teams behind a $10 paywall... I wonder what they were smoking to think THAT was a smart move. In any case, I will keep my original review from a few years ago up, but do not buy this game if you value your own self respect.

For my first FPS in VR, I have to say that this was a good start, and has everything that I was looking for in a FPS.
Here's the deal, if you've played Escape from Tarkov, you have a good idea of what to expect in Ghosts of Tabor. You're a mercenary living in a war-torn slavic country, going into parts of The Island of Tabor to scavenge for supplies, food and water, selling some things to different traders to give you an edge over your competition. To be completely honest, I feel like this game would be a million times better if I had a VR Gunstock... I'll edit should I ever get one of those-
Despite how frustrating this game can be sometimes, I personally find this game to be very addicting.
