Honestly better than anything on the market at the moment, by that I mean don't waste your money on EA's F1 game. Even though this will be the last version for a long while of this series, and possibly ever, this game still holds up very well. If you enjoy calling the shots, this is the game for you. A wealth of customization options added on in the final update really extend the lifespan of this game, nearly indefinitely. It scratches a similar itch to Motorsport Manager, so if you've played and enjoyed that chances are you'll enjoy this too. It does still have a few bugs left in it, but what you have here is a well polished product of love for the sport. I'd say it's worth full price as is, but as it ages you may want to wait for a sale.

It might be a blatant cash grab of a mobile app on Steam, but it's got just enough story and characters that my imagination can fill in the gaps. It's harmless fun, so why not give it a go?

Compared to VRChat, this game runs much better on my computer and with the VR modding community moving over to Chillout, I might as well move too. Plus, unlike VRC, there's no Easy Anti-Cheat so my computer won't BSOD while trying to start chillout like it does with VRC. All this needs is the folks to move from VRC to here, everything else already functions much smoother on this game as compared to its competitors.

Out of the Park Baseball is, essentially, baseball as you want it to be. Want to relive any season of the past? There's a mode for that. Want to mix up every baseball player in history and see how current MLB stars do in the 1800s or how those players of legend do today? There's a mode for that. Want to just collect cards and ignore all that? There's a mode for that too.

The game does have a bit of a learning curve, but thankfully the tutorials are even more detailed this year to help onboard new folk. For anything those don't answer, the OOTP forums are an excellent place to ask anything your heart desires to know about the game. Having put over a thousand hours into multiple iterations of this series, I can say this is definitely worth it at full price, but if you happen to catch a sale you should jump on it.

Edit 2023/04/23: Gave it another shot and EAC (Easy Anti Cheat) promptly caused my computer to bluescreen. Even more of a hard pass than in my original review. Check out ChilloutVR since that's where all the modding community has gone.

What used to be perhaps the easiest introduction into VR socialization is now, unfortunately, throwing everything away for seemingly nothing. Many many mods made this game so much better and now they have thrown that all away and alienated the community. There are much better alternatives on the market, such as ChilloutVR, that will let you port your VRC avatar to them with minimal fuss. Unlike VRChat, those platforms are not hostile to quality of life improvements. I'll never forget the lovely memories that I've had on this game but with the introduction of EAC and the company looking to hire someone familiar with cyptocurrency should tell you everything you need to know about VRChat's priorities. This game is now a hard pass.

The game has a high degree of customization, above and beyond that of VR chat. However, the fact that they've decided to double down on the crypto in game makes me not recommend this. It was a wonderful piece of software for exploring various sizes and creating almost anything your heart desired, but given that it's likely to be removed from steam soon don't waste your time and find another VR game that isn't poisoned by crypto.

Can't play the game without an epic account. I'm not interested in signing up for yet another service even just to play single player. Can not recommend.

Note: The recent patches were a little rough but the latest one (as of writing: 19.8.79) has cleared up the bugs and the slowness that some users (including me) were experiencing. Even on a nearly decade old laptop this game now runs like clockwork again.

Out of the Park Baseball 19 (OOTP) is an amazing baseball simulation game that allows you not only to control any team of your choice of the past, present, or your imagination, but also allows you the freedom to define that universe to as granular detail as you can imagine. Yet, if you just want to let the AI handle everything while you sit back in the dugout or GM’s chair (or both) you can do that too and do it with ease. Since this is a simulation, you do not control the individual players swings or pitches, but you can tell them swing or not, pitch around, or some old-fashioned beanball if that’s your style. You are the manager instead of the player in this series of video games. That means for those of you like me who want to think things through and take five minutes between pitches, you can do that or just breeze through at-bats/innings/days/weeks/even years at a time.

The game is beautifully designed both in the interfaces and in the field. The new modern 3D view (classic is still an option!) gives some new life to the already informative on-field widgets. These can be enabled/disabled at your heart’s whim, much like everything else in the game. The new player models, while not the quality of MLB The Show, are amazingly well implemented and remind me of the player models in All-Star Baseball 2000 on the Nintendo 64. The stadiums are energetic, lifelike, and with the ability to customize the 3D view camera you can watch the game from the dugout, press box, or anywhere that you desire. If you want to see what the catcher sees, you can make it happen as easily as opening the editor, clicking and scrolling, and saving a new camera view. Additionally, many handmade ballparks are already available on the OOTP Forums or even here in the Steam Workshop. If you want to remove those awful video boards that Wrigley Field decided to put in, you can easily import an older model of Wrigley and fix that blemish.

Overall, this game is well worth the price tag even when it’s not on sale and I haven’t even touched upon a vast majority of the available features in this game. In an age where companies seem to be giving less and less, OOTP gives you more and more. This is about as close to perfection in a baseball game as you can get.

OOTP 16 is, quite simply, a grand slam.

I managed to pick this game up on sale for $10 thanks to the humble bundle and it has already proven itself to be well worth the money spent. The level of detail that appears in this game is simply stunning. If I counted correctly there are at least 36 leagues from which you can manage a baseball team in with full stats, advanced stats, and more. Want to start all over in 1871 with a fictitious league and simulate to the present day? Go ahead! Want to add your own league in tandem with existing ones? Feel free! From historical leagues to creating your own intercontinental baseball championship, the possibilities are endless.

Onto management, you can choose whether you wish to manage pitch by pitch, at-bat by at-bat, inning by inning, or simming to whatever inning you please and playing from there. Alternatively you can just sim weeks, months, or years at a time if you just wish to see your own little baseball world evolve. the multitude of tendencies you can set for your team on whether you're in a close game or a deadlock is fascinating.

In short, buy this game, you will not be disappointed if you're a baseball fan or are a fan of managerial type games. Even if you don't like baseball, I would heavily recommend this product. As someone else stated, "It's a baseball nerd's dream" but it's also so very worth the money spent even with the new season approaching because once you start it's your own little world.
